no curb for ~6000 m of the race secondary to another event going on, then cones started to appear. technically does not meet IAAF rules.

The track is probably like 360m or something anyway
Hmmm, it does look like small sections of the curb on the first turn were missing
That would be one severe f up if the record isn't ratified for lack of curb or cones.
Remember the American athlete that was initially denied a Trials qualifier for this?
I also heard that stopwatches run counter clockwise south of the equator, so that also could be a problem.
The track must go downhill.
Hep High Jump was going on. WR will stand. Similar to if they were throwing jav during a race
I'd think the athletes would recognize that, with at least 1 speaking up.
More so, I just think it was a dope-fest. Plus, why wasn't the Men's 800m heats faster than normal?

But that means one side goes up too

Not if the track is doping.

Lack of curb doesn't make the times any faster. But it could be illegal for record purposes.
Cones are allow in-lieu of a curb. Sorry guys.
Also it was measured and has the highest level of measurement certification. Every lane and mark was measured.
No $hit, but there were no cones for the first 6000 meters.

I would kick the all IOC members right in the balls with my spikes if I lost my world record because of some of cones (or lack thereof).
Hi HardLoper!
Not a WR by the book, and that book is the IAAF Competition Rules 2016-2017.
https://www.iaaf.org/about-iaaf/docu...es-regulations
For the first 15 laps (6,000m), a large portion of the first turn had no curb nor cones in place, due to the heptathlon HJ. For the next 2 laps, cones had been placed along about half of the turn where the curb was missing. But it was not until there the final 8 laps that the track was finally in compliance with IAAF Rule 160.1.
So 68% of the race was run under illegal conditions on the track (for record purposes).
