Ethipio’s Almaz Ayana was asked by a Swedish journalist about breaking a “controversial world recordâ€. The journalist said Swedish runner Sarah Lahti, who ran a 26 second pr in 31:28.43 for 12th, said afterwards she “didn’t think you were a 100% clean runner.
Ayana smiled like she often did during the press conference and then gave her answer in Amharic. The translator who often did not translate but spoke in the third person towards Almana started off by saying Almana gave a “very sharp answer.â€
Then he said for her, “Three basic things. I did my training, specifically (for the ) 5000 and 10000. Number two, I praise the Lord. God has given me everything, every blessing. My doping is my training. My doping is Jesus. Otherwise. Nothing. I am crystal clear.â€

ROFL. They are just openly praising the Lord for Doping.
All bow down to African dominance!
To think any other thought is RAYYYYYYYCIST!!!! -
Pardon my French, but that is a bada$$ response.
Ayana is the savior of women's distance running. -
So basically, her 'translator' spoke for her with a set response when the inevitable doping questions came.
-
I have no evidence to this but believe he was translating what she said but often would say "she says..." instead of just translating.
The answers her gave were not a set response. -

True. The Africans (and other anointed people) are being allowed to cheat. It's becoming obvious even to some of the brainwashed masses. Aden? Zero athletes "test" positive. The Rosas? Even more laughable. Hermens? One of the dirtiest of the dirty.
Flip side is if you are a pale European, a paleface American, or Japanese among many others, you will be hung by your heels if you are caught doping. -
How many times was Ayana OOC tested this year (and without prior warning as the Kenyans get)?

Here we go. The every 4 year meltdown of white people is beginning, and it's just day 1 of the running. We know it's rough with black people winning gold medals in swimming and gymnastics now, in addition to the expected track and field. However, the sooner you accept the fact that black athletes dominate the sport of track and field, the more you will enjoy these games - or you could just watch archery and rowing. -
She's obviously a person of faith. I don't believe she would declare he faith so publicly and then be doping on the side.
I for one was in awe by her dominant performance. -

I don't think being devoutly religious is an indicator that someone isn't going to cheat at sport.
A good proportion athletes give it large to baby Jesus or Allah or whichever one they're into and then get busted. -

Let's Run staff and evidence do not go hand in hand.

Why would that matter? Russians actually got tested quite frequently, nuch more than most of the rest of the world. -

I agree 100% that this was a great response.
I don't think Ayana is quite the savior of all of women's distance running, but there are a LOT of haters who should be kissing her feet: THESE ARE THE KIND OF PERFORMANCES THAT MAKE TRACK & FIELD RELEVANT.
Just look at the way Bolt is known, followed, and beloved in almost every country in the world -- he has charisma, but so do other athletes; charisma is nothing without dominance. SPECIFICALLY, FOR THOSE WHO DON'T WANT TO SEE THE 10,000M DISAPPEAR FROM THE OLYMPICS, YOU SHOULD KISS HER FEET (and the feet of the other 7 women who went out fast early on), TOO -- THESE ARE THE KINDS OF PERFORMANCES THAT KEEP IT RELEVANT AND IN THE PROGRAM. -
It's not all doping. There is a reason why such a high percentage of men that have broken 13:00 come from the East African Rift Valley. The main reason we haven't seen more women do the same is due to the underlying culture and the status of women in these countries. The main reasons American women tend to dominate the Olympics are due to title 9 and the status of women in this country.

How many times? They don't even test. -
Nobody cares about an Ethiopian distance runner. If you think what the world is waiting for is (yet another) a really good Eastern African runner you are clueless.
-
I don't see racism here, everyone here is accused of doping whether American, British, Eastern European or African.
-
This is probably the best and worst way the athletics could have started
Best, because that's what the organisers want, World records, hence the bouncy fast track, and worst, because it shows the do not GAF about doping. -

This is absolutely correct. As the rest of the women in the developing nations get equal status the position as top athletes in the world will be lost.
