Salazar's quote on front page says Galen is better than he was. So? And? Alberto competed for a handful of years after college and his 15th in the Olympic marathon was a bitter disappointment. He had some national dominance and major marathon wins, but this was largely before the E. African feet hit the roads in the west. He fizzled out as a runner, so why would he be a good coach.
Most athletes he works with, apart from Galen, have negative things to say about Salazar. Kara Goucher and Galen Rupp have been the most successful under him, but a string of disappointments abound. Ritz spent too much time injured. Webb stayed with him for a hot minute. Levins? Hasay? Cain? Even Jenkins has underperformed since going to Salazar. The No Farah coaching relationship is still hard to define, but Farah doesn't exclusively train under Salazar the way Rupp does.
How is Salazar perceived by other prominent coaches? He seems fairly antisocial and I never see others interacting with him too much. If you add up all of Salazar's athletes' bodies of work, has he been successful?
