Designer drugs will never get caught . I am not sure they are taking because I do not have world class swimming experience. But I would be alot of money that they are dirty.

Now track and I have competed on the World Class level 2 Olys 2 Worlds and I know and I am 100% sure that 100% of the top 20 in every running event is taking. Jumps not sure.

She's the real McCoy, her 1500 m freestyle time of 15:25.48 is just as fast as some male college swimmers.

Think Ledeky is clean. Think she dominates due to her strength from her training. However, watching her at the Olympics her strokes aren't very smooth and there was some chop. Very impressive young lady.

Ledecky's work ethic is well-documented in the swimming world. She out-works everyone, including some male swimmers with household names. Her club has a challenge finding male swimmers to train with her because she tears them apart in practice and it messes with their confidence. Ledecky has to be exceptional physically to do what she does without drugs but I believe she is clean - her exceptionalism lies even more in her relentless and dedicated pursuit of being the best female swimmer ever. People who work that hard don't want to mess it up by using drugs, it's the lazy ones who want short-cuts that use PEDs. I would bet a large sum, but not my life, that Ledecky is clean.

She won a gold medal at age 15. I may be naive but it would be pretty sick of her parents and coaches to give her drugs in her early teenage years, I just cannot believe that would happen. Her family is also very wealthy and Ivy League educated. There is nothing financially for them to gain doping a teenager... So their only motivation would be obsessive competitive narcissism which does not fit the mold at all. She's a talent.

Yes, because nobody who is wealth and educated is at all obessive. Or competitive. Or narcissistic. Or prone to taking shortcuts when it benefits them.

Isnt there a member of the US track team that has blindly taken "testosterone medication" from his coach since age 14? Coaches are great at fooling young athletes and their families. People trust coaches.

I think that she won gold at age 15 lends credibility to her current dominance and to her being clean but agree with the above poster that citing the supposed impeccable character of her wealthy, Ivy League parents is insane. I grew up in a wealthy neighborhood and went to an Ivy and for many years associated high economic class with being moral and a "good person" and I learned the hard way over time that that isn't how it works. Neither are impoverished people all sweet, innocent souls the way many people. It's a mixed bag of the genuine, loving, giving and the spiritually bankrupt all over the socioeconomic map.

She's convinced me with her outrage over efimova. Plus, I do think there is something to the argument that a childhood history of success is a good sign. Obviously not proof, but we all no that there's no such thing as proof, so hints of cleanliness are all we can go on.

She lives 2 minutes down the street from me in a wealthy neighborhood where recreational drugs are rampant among teens, so no need for her parents to be complicit if she took drugs in high school.

When I wrote fit the mold, what I meant was watch an interview with her parents, which I'm sure you haven't... Especially her mom who appears to be an exceptionally nice and level headed person. This is not s Dead Poets Society family.

Does anyone remember in either Beijing or London whereswimmers were absolutely crushing WR and they said it was because the swimsuits were so technologically advanced they had to be banned? Well, once again WR and OR keep getting smashed. I find it suspicious that if the previous WR/OR were all aided then the times being posted today are skeptical. Track, cycling, swimming, they are all the same

You guys are all sick. You accuse athletes based on appearance and/or performance please show scientific proof that your methods are accurate.

I think she is clean. However her mother being a former collegiate swimmer and having first her son then daughter in swimming could be seen as the mold of super competitive approach. But you can tell from an interview what the mother is like? Good for you. Maybe you can go work for WADA and we can dispense with testing and you can just interview athletes parents. Skip the coaches and the athletes.
