Anyone notice the double standard by the BBC commentators? In swimming they denounce Sun Yang because of the meldonium and when he loses, say the "sport is better because of this." However, Britain lets Lizzie Armistead ride and they keep hyping her up and totally ignore all her missed drug tests.

I don't understand, why didn't Sun Yang just "miss" the test (trimetazidine)? Doesn't he get "two strikes" first like everyone else? I guess CHINADA is more reliable than UKAD. So the new "game" is to hire incompetent testers, to protect the athletes?

I think his test was in-competition (CHinese Nationals), though the point remains, why didn't they (CHiNADA) just flub/hide the test? Not like having WADA declare you to be "non-compliant" really means much these days.
Plus, the Chinese media didn't hide this, like the Western media would. The cultural difference is noteworthy.

None of them were actually missed tests. One was a filing error, one was someone else's fault and the third was due to sunspot activity.

UKAD wanted to ban Armistead.
British media love a good doping story and it's 10 times better if they're British. No idea why you would think the media in the UK would want to cover up a story like this.

YES!! FINALLY the UK media (Daily Mail) reported on it the story! Only TWO WEEKS late! And the state-run BBC is STILL covering up! After multiple sobstory interviews and glowing character pieces on LA, I guess it's just their DNA.

But I agree, all CHINADA had to do was write a retroactive TUE for trimetazidine (it's his medication for the "angina pectoris" heart problem presumably), but instead they banned the doctor for a year.

Interesting.
Trimetazidine looks very similar to meldonium, in that it is a fatty acid oxidation inhibitor, and used as an anti-ischemic agent in the treatment of angina. It is made by a French company.
The problem is that angina is from a decrease in blood flow to the heart. It is associated with a decrease in exercise capacity. I have never heard of a young, world-class athlete of Olympic medal type ability that has had angina.
I think it would be pretty much impossible in endurance sports.
