I was under the impression that at the time the decision had to be made, Keitany didn't think she'd be ready for Rio, that she's not there because she didn't want to be there

What was the mean he beat?
Was it the average?
Was it above average?
Or was it very below average?
Just like you.
it's interesting that he interprets these short road race results as indicating that he'll have a great marathon. I would interpret them to mean that his best distances are between 2M (maybe not right now if he's doing only 62 quarters) and half marathon.
Well, Eliud Kipchoge's best distances are probably between two miles and a half marathon. He still runs pretty good marathons.

He's world number one at the marathon, destroyed everyone at London this year. Never been widely considered as number one at any shorter distance, notwithstanding 2003.
You're right: Ritz is an idiot. Imagine thinking relative success in a 10k translates to a great marathon. . . . Oh wait . . . maybe all he meant was that he has been healthy and is pretty fit, and now he's ready to do the marathon training and thinks he has that training figured out. Maybe he hasn't actually forgotten all the times he has said that the marathon is a different animal. Nah--you probably know better than a guy who has been top ten in an Olympic Marathon, Chicago Marathon, and Boston Marathon, and is the third fastest American ever.

Is he going to attempt to run with the lead group at NYCM?
lot of jerks post here, think they are better than a three time Olympian.
Why is that?
Jerks like me don't think we are better than Ritz, just tired of his endless self promotion.

Ritz has received the most money from NYCM ever relative to his actual performances in that race. He's got to talk it up. He won't do site at NYCM.

Ritz is a much better runner than me. I guess I'd
beat him in the sprints, but thats not relevant and I'm going to pretend to have accomplished anywhere near what he has in track. However, I have won just as many marathons as he has, and in fewer attempts.
Perhaps his last big payday on the national scene. I hope for better, but I feel we will see a 2:12 along with plenty of excuses. Hoping he doesn't DNS or DNF.
Nope, he'll be fine in NYC and he'll run Boston as well. He's not on your timetable and only has to satisfy himself, not any of you. If he ran 2:08 flat, you guys would still rip him. You have his pity.

The only thing you beat is your dick.
2:08:13 in NYC
He's only 33.
He should have a couple more solid marathons in him. Look at Meb.

How dare he try to promote himself! His sponsors must be livid.
