Looks like relay coach Dennis Mitchell will be using Allyson Felix on the 2nd leg in Rio. I think this is a losing decision by the troubled relays coach. The last thing we need is an injured Felix trying to run the short relay when she has not sprinted much this spring.
I think Prandini should be on the relay. Another disgrace be team USA and our drug cheat relay coach Mitchell.
I think you misspelled it. Should be Felix on 400 relay-Mitchell out
with a running start like the 2nd leg Felix is a much better choice than prandini.

2 years ago maybe - prandini is a better 200m runner than Felix now and has run multiple 100s this season.
Last summer Felix split 47.72 in Beijing. IDK about her injury status but if Felix is healthy, you pick her over Prandini.

Why are we talking about Prandini on the relay and not about Morolake Akinosu who actually came fourth and beat Prandini in the 100 final.
I think "400 relay" is ambiguous to some people. The OP means the 4x100m relay. I agree that Prandini is a better choice based on individual race times. Maybe the high-stakes relay experience of Felix gives her an advantage?

If that's the case (?) I hope Felix has done the speed work she had to decrease this spring with her injury. She's definitely the more experienced (stickwork) but hasn't done any if 100's in competition this year. Since Felix will be running the 4x400 it might be good idea to break in some new 4X100 relay talent-wonder if the Oregon connection will help on the relay.
Felix has divulged her injury still causes her pain and is not medically resolved.
Has the IAAF officially changed the terminology to ONE LAP RELAY & FOUR LAP RELAY?

The 400m relay is a 4x100m. The 1600m relay is a 4x400m. It's clearly spelled out at every track meet and track organization.

If fit, I'd stick Felix on the back straight leg. Its the longest leg if done well and Felix has better top speed than Prandini.
Anyway, unless Prandini finished in the top 4, this is for a back up spot.

Easy. Because the OP is attempting to turn this into a whitey vs. darkie debate.
I am usually very pro Felix. However this is one of the worst things I have ever seen from US coaching. Felix hasn't come close to showing sub 11 speed in the past 2 years and didn't even run the 100 this season. Prandini has also displayed faster splits by a clear margin in 4x1 and 200.
Either Prandini has handoff problems or .20 seconds slower is worth any handoff uncertainties in the worst interpretation. The only other possibility I can think of is that Prandini was more seriously hurt in her fall at the end of the 200 at the trials otherwise this decision is a poor one.
If Mitchell was serious he would put both of them on the 4x100, he should have Mirolake and Tianna just replace them in the semifinals since Tianna is going to be doing Long Jump as well. Maybe even rest Bowie for one so she can focus on the 200. There are 6 fast girls for Mitchell to use and he can use them all and rest the ones doubling or tripling at the right time.
Maybe the girls should just coach themselves and forget Mitchell since they actually have more experience than he does.
Prandini beat Felix in falling to the track, so the fact that Prandini by a very narrow margin beat an injured Felix, who was lacking in "speed" training, yet was not even on her feet while Felix slowed to a stop does not indicate that Prandini is a better 200m runner. However, it is questionable whether Felix is right now better at 100m. Prandini is faster at 100m and has probably been so for the past two years. But don't bet against Felix when the chips are on the line.
