Anyone have any good links/advice for a sub 1:25 half marathon training plan? Thanks.
Anyone have any good links/advice for a sub 1:25 half marathon training plan? Thanks.
need more info
I ran 1:30 off of essentially no training and 1:25 off of 3 runs (20 miles per week, long run, tempo, intervals) and 1:19 off of 7 days a week 50miles with more standard workout schedule
I suck and I broke 1:25 by basically training consistently 40-50 mpw (touching 60ish mpw once or twice) and racing consistently from 5k-10 miles (most races were 5k though). Most runs were easy paced on trails, strides 2-3 days/week. Would throw in the occasional shortish tempo between 6:00-6:15 pace. Longest runs were probably around 12-13 miles but lots of runs around 10 miles. I used the frequent races as my workouts and did not do anything faster than 6:00 pace in training (other than strides obviously). Probably not the best way but it worked for me. Ran 1:23:15 on a warmish day (dew point low 60s).
I've used the Salazar "Advanced" training plan from Nike+ to run 1:22 half and sub 3 full:
I doubt this is being maintained, I don't think Steve Magness has been supporting Nike for a couple of years now.

I tried at age 39 for this, and ended up running 1:26. Average 41 miles per week for 17 weeks leading up to race (much much less prior to that). No structured workouts, however one run per week was at least 20km, sometimes 25km, and twice 30km. Each 5km segment faster than last, with last 5k segment at goal half pace.
During the race, I fell apart after 15km (hit 15km in 60:11). I believe my issue was not enough running at paces faster than 6:25, and the fact I was 195 pounds. In fact the weight was definitely the biggest factor, no pun intended.
