I am amazed. If they had done those workouts over the course of 2 weeks, that would still be training very hard. That they did these workouts all in the same week is just insane. What I wonder is, where is the long run? I'm not super familiar with Canova training for 1500m, but it seems like they didn't have any reasonable day for a long run. Maybe this close to the Games he feels it's not necessary?

Doesn't pass the smell test for me, but what do I know. I think Salazar said it best when he talked about how hard it is for athletes to succeed on the world stage without doping. John Cook has also talked about how it's much easier to get away with doping in 3rd world countries than in places like the US.

It's a cool article, but my sense of wonder at impossible athletic achievements was beaten out of me a long time ago. Now I'm just a cynical jerk who post vague doping accusations on a message board. It sure is fun to be a fan of track and field these days.

The article is worth reading, but the author states that rojo "famously quips" that talent doesn't go away. A quip is a witty remark. How is rojo's statement witty?

You don't have to do long runs once you get 3-4 weeks out from your goal race. Some people keep doing them for the sake of routine but most programs will cut it out entirely or just make it a recover day.

These sessions are enough evidence of why canola's athletes don't last for long. Stupid to do three such sessions in six days. No doubt Kiprop is more measured and will be the one ready to bring it in Rio. Let's see who wins that gold medal.

This is the kind of hard work that needs to be done to attempt to be and beat the best. Remember, these dudes do NOTHING but lie like dogs in the heat after workouts. They simply REST like you and I have no concept of...

Rio is going to be fun. Centro is going to give these guys a run. Remember, a Kenyan ALWAYS falters in the Semi-Finals and doesn't make the Finals. Who will it be this year???

No sure on medalling need to look at him further

But they are having 48 hours recovery between these workouts. Provided that they do rest properly and have a reasonable diet very fit athletes can recover from intensive workouts in this time.

However, the puzzle yet to be answered is; are they great athletes because they do these workouts or can they do these workouts because they are great athletes? Answers please!

Did you even read the article? It says Kwemoi went to Japan to train. JAPAN. Total third-world country. He was probably in the same apartment the whole time.
