Slaney was great, Lynn Jennings great, Suzy very good and could be great, Kim Gallagher great, Clark sister good,

Francie L.Smith was good, yet none of their careers was as

decorated with American titles, American records, Major Medals, and World Records as Regina's! Regina has the best American female distance honors hands down!!!! Now try and name any female runner who have a greater world class range than Regina?

It is a valid argument (not that I agree) but give me a break with the Goodwill Games. I think most would also agree that the indoor World Champs are not as important as the outdoor.

Where are her Olympic medals? I would probably go with Joanie as well, but how about Slaney? Double Gold in World Champs and a AR at every distance from 1500 to 10,000, talk about range.

Call my cynical, but I refuse to believe that a 39.5 yr old woman could run under 4 for 1500, ALL ALONE, early season indoors, and have it be her personal best. You don't get stronger at that age.

How many men in the world can run sub 4 at age 39? She's dirtier than the Chinese, go ahead and trot out all you're innocent until proven guilty comments, but she's flat out on something, and anybody who says otherwise is foolish.

Therefore the greatest American women distance runners are Benoit, Slaney, and Jennings.

I think Vipam is Regina Jabobs.

Its so sad that she is so good, but nobody likes her except Vipam.

You know the thing that I think is the funniest that she has never done well when there is drug testing involved. hmm interesting. and until you win the olympic gold you aren't going to stack up

Distance being from the 800 to the marathon?OK,Regina beats Joanie in the 800,1500,3000,5000,Joanie takes over about the 5 mile(maybe),But Joanie has big edge from the 10K,15K,20K,25K,30K,up to the marathon.I would list:

I bet all those "haters" (most who are non-african americans) couldn't defeat Regina Jacobs much less Suzy or even Lynn Jennings would is Retired in any of their events.

I think Suzy is a great runner and all that but this is an easyyyy answer.

#1 M-A-R-Y S-L-A-N-E-Y-there will never be another she was world class at age 14, she owned everyyyy damn record, she broke legitimate World Records(I hold the indoor 336 yard dash world record myself). She has and won't have an equal.

In the past I have listed Lynn Jennings as one of the greatest female cross-country runners ever, Joan Benoit as one of the greatest marathoners ever, and Mary as SIMPLY a

PHENOM! The case for any of them being touted as America's

best female distance runner would be valid; however, and remember that only Joan won an Olympic medal (GOLD). The case against Joan was she specialized in one event, thus limiting her to THE BEST FEMALE MARATHONER the U.S. may EVER witnessed in our lifetime!

The sheer volume of U.S. titles Regina collected and the two (2) outdoor World Silver medals along with a Gold indoor and Silver indoor puts her SLIGHTLY ahead of Mary

and Lynn. It is safe to say that all four will be added to U.S. Track and Field Hall of Fame!

Regina performances will be tainted until she proves herself in the Olympic circuit... personally I believe she is using performance enhancing drugs.

Especially given her performances in 2000, then all of a sudden experiencing "breathing" problems and pulling out of the Olympics... fear of drugs being found???
