No, just sad.
Not to mention, not all the alcohol that's purchased is ultimately drank. I know whenever I have a party/BBQ/guests over, I buy beer. I make sure to buy enough so that I don't run out. Depending on how the night goes, a fair amount of it may be left over. I'm not really a drinker, so I offer them up, and some of them ultimately go down the drain once they get skunky.
Plus, think of all the other waste there is from unfinished kegs, spills, unfinished cans, etc. To assume every drop needs to be accounted for is silly.

Stop putting it out in the sun and it won't skunk. That's caused by UV.
It's hard to create a crisis if you use real numbers. (Just like the campus rape "crisis".)
Nothing to see here but manufactured BS.

Are you able to run decently well while maintaining that?
I average about 2 beers a night, which is no problem. I usually stick to "session" beers, at about 5% ABV. There are some really good session IPAs on the market now. But if I go much above that or upgrade to double IPAs or similar, I feel like garbage the next day and it definitely impacts my workouts.
That's exactly what I drink too. 1-3 beers almost every night. I can sometimes feel 3 beers the day after and I think it affects my running a little bit. If I drink 4 beers I get a hang-over. But that's because I very rarely drink more than 3 beers. Around Christmas/New Year I can easily get used to drinking more without getting a hangover. So I guess I have a good "base" and that I'm able to peak when society demands it.

10,000/year versus 10/year. 3 orders of magnitude difference.

Agreed that Muslims kill less AMERICANS than even the Police.
But Muslims slaughtered 1.5 million Armenians not so long ago. And they've been ruining the world since the 1460s.
Luckily we live in America where we are in a bubble and the world doesn't matter to us...
Since I cleaned up my diet and dont eat meat or dairy ( i do eat eggs) and no refined foods ie white sugar flour etc ... I just cant get a hangover unless I drink 12 beers or more...I can drink 6-8 beers get up at 5 and run no problem.. or a run/bike/lift workout

Utter nonsense. Eating meat or dairy has no effect on your hangover or lack of one.
Hangovers are not caused by these things nor are they affected by these things.

They rebelled against George Washington to keep their whiskey. They invented NASCAR to transport their whiskey. Whiskey is woven into their destiny.
Yeah, well it was about whiskey, and they didn't take no shit from George, that's the important thing.

Not eating meat or diary leads to depression and alcoholism. Alcoholics don't get hangovers.
Better to be an alcoholic than an ISIS supporter.
Alcoholic never killed more than a handful at a time.

Not true. #WWII
Best be trolling the nearest Walmart for a 36 pack of bud light

That's hilarious. You stopped eating meat and became and alcoholic. So healthy.
The people you describe sound like alcoholics, for sure. However, lots of frat guys "drinking recreationally" (blacking out on a regular basis) are also alcoholics. Some of them aren't. Some people are able to move on and stop after heavy partying in high school and college while many cannot.
Also, it's not just about how much someone drinks but also how that person drinks and what alcohol does to that person mentally, physically, and spiritually. Two frat guys make drink similar amounts but one guy doesn't think about drinking at all until the next party, whereas the second guy is counting down every minute until he can get drunk again. There's a big difference there, and it's not always apparent on the outside.

That seems ridiculous. 1 in 100 I might believe, but 10% seems like too many. Do 1 in 10 people that you know really do this??
I'm surprised it's not more. I live next door to a convenience store in middle America. Hell, I probably average eight myself.
Hence the name "Stagger"
Is the average Slovenian an alcoholics then?
