Kampala, May 28 (CNMSports): Jacob Kiplimo, 16, has become the youngest ever Ugandan athlete to qualify for the Olympic Games, to be staged in Rio de Janeiro from August 5 to 21.
Is he 15 or 16?
Age cheat.
That's insane.
16 yrs old in November. He'll be 15 at the OG's.

Neither

Utter disgrace really. Uganda should be banned from world juniors.
Video interview with him here:

He looks and sounds very young. Certainly under 19.

Are you kidding, he sounds like every adult Ugandan athlete
Born Nov 14, 2000.

IN that video he does look 15.
That chap could be the next Usain Bolt type dominator
Or he could just fizzle out.
Back in the late 1980s, there was a chap called Philip Mosima who almost beat the legendary John Ngugi at the Kenya trials. He was 14 at the time.
Everyone thought Mosima was going to be prodigy. He never lived up to that promise.
Kiplimo may also be one of those early bloomers

He does not look or sound any younger than Stephen Kiprotich (age 23 here).

What's up with that 1500m? That's about 4:08 mile pace (if 3:42 is a 4 flat pace). Then 2 months later in July, he ran twice that distance (now 3000m) at a pace only a touch slower (3:56.5 1500m pace)? And then 6 days later, runs 10,000m at 4:25/mile pace?
Is the 1500m the outlier? Or the 3 or the 10?
His way better at longer distances than at shorter. If he's actually a 15 yo and not done before he's 18 he can be the first sub-2h marathoner.
According to Jack Daniels, 27:26 for 10,000m should be equivalent roughly to:
1500m in 3:32
3000m in 7:33
5000m in 13:10
But Kiplimo ran
1500m in 3:50
3000m in 7:52
5000m in 13:19
Is it really possible to be that slow at 1500m and 3000m and yet so fast at 10,000m?

Yes. How many 15 year olds in Africa are sponsored or have the money to fly around Europe to run fast times? Like every young kid in Africa, World JRs is always their first major race and first chance to run all out.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
