A kid who has ran and played soccer his whole life is finally doing XC and track at my school. He's been training with his dad for running for years and runs a 4:19 mile PR, but said he usually runs in the mid 4:20's. The main reason on why I'm excited is that if our team trains right this year, next season we're gonna have 3 guys running 1:54ish, 1:55-1:56ish (me) and 1:57-1:58ish in the 800 NOT including him. He said when he runs his miles, he tries to shoot for sub-2 the first 2 laps (which isn't a smart way to run it, and our coaches will help him out with that come track). But he said when he ran 4:19 he ran a 2:00 and a 2:18 plus change. What do you guys think his 800m PR could be by the end of next track season? If we can get him as our fourth leg with a good time we're gonna be set. I'm guessing between 1:54-1:56.
