Makes sense. The article says he's struggling financially and doesn't have a contract (which he probably would have if he made it to Rio). He's gotta get a job. Though I'm not sure going into acting is going to pay the bills.

He was on a near trials champion and a strong potential medal winner and can't make a living wage.

A) They can sprint
B) They can hurdle
C) They have endurance usually
A 400m hurdler should know more about the sport than most other athletes in other events, except the Decathlon. As far as talent goes there are plenty of events available to a very good 400m hurdler, jumps, 200m, 400m, 4x400, 800m. As far as coaching goes the experience in multiple training styles would be a benefit.
These guys should easily get jobs coaching or making money from multiple events if one doesn't pan out.
I watched the race and it sure looked like he cleared the final hurdle clean. Looked like he just rigged the last 30 meters.
If he goes to work at that coffee stand it would be epic.

A bench warmer getting paid $1m-$2m per year for 5-6 years is a whole lot more than almost every track athlete.
