Amanda Eccleston Appreciation Thread

Reminds me of the Matthew Elliott race a few years back. Decent high school runner starts to slowly improve in college, has a breakout race in the championship final a few years after graduation.

Honestly though it looked like Amanda was going for the pass in Lane 1 coming of the curve, realized she was going to be boxed in, so she had to slow down just a bit so she could go for the pass in Lane 3. If she had just swung wide originally...

Please correct me but I thought she isn't fully sponsored by Brooks as well?

Regardless, amazing performance. She obviously was the closest to make the team from the Beasts. Give her a raise.

Eccleston was also cut off by Martinez slightly entering the turn. It was not major but did cause a misstep and she lost the 3rd place trip by only 3/100ths.

I know BMart gets a lot of love on here (and it's well deserved--she's talented, good looking, and seems like a great person all around), but the one who hasn't gotten hardly ANY press after her stellar trials is Amanda Eccleston.

I watched her post-race interview--5:13 mile in high school (and she graduated like what, 7 or 8 years ago?) to OT 4th placer? She made no excuses in the interview and was super classy about it when the rest of us on the boards were ready to lynch everybody over every little bit of in-race contact over the last 2 weeks. That was pretty refreshing.

Let's give her some love. Awesome running Amanda. You'll get 'em next time.

Not a Brooks Beast.

She is a soulless ginger. Imagine the hate (undeserved) she would have felt if she out-leaned Martinez.

Count me a fan, very classy and no excuses. 5:13 to 4th at the OT, and also praises Brenda Martinez (and says good for her after the 800) and says "This is the strongest 1500 team we've sent to the Olympics."

It will be exciting to see her over the next few years, now that she has had a break-out year.

I was impressed, especially the way she was willing to lead in her semifinal to set an honest pace. We don't need any more passive mid-D runners who only go out and hope someone else does enough work that they can kick off of them. And she still had a lot left in the final when most of the field was obviously tired.

BMart is at a slightly higher level and will probably do better in Rio than Eccelston, but based on the trials, I expect we'll see a lot more of Eccleston in the future.

Pure class. This girl's the real deal and does not get the love she deserves bc she flies under the radar and does things the right way.

She does not have a full sponsorship with Brooks, just on their ID program. Someone give this girl a contract!

Is she single?

I grew up running against her high school and college teams (Hillsdale, not Michigan) and am glad to see her representing south central Michigan.

Most improved runner at the Trials

Much respect for Amanda and her exceptional improvement. Worked her way up through the DII ranks and blossomed in her 5th year at Michigan (including anchoring UofM's DMR and Penn Relays titles).

After college, she's continued to stick her nose in there with top US talent, and yesterday she proved she belongs with the best. Looking forward to following her progress in the years to come!

I didn't know who she was, but Amanda Eccleston is top tier from now on.

She definitely deserves some appreciation! Gutsy race indeed. I'd have to watch the race again, but coming down the final stretch Brenda's arms were all over, almost seemed like they could have obstructed Amanda. Anywho, very gracious in the interview after. Hope she continues to excel.

Had no idea who she was but after watching her run the rounds came away very impressed, big time up side,sound like she's out 10 years old in the interview though Like Allie O.

She's had a great year really. She was running really well indoors as well; she didn't catch me off guard outdoors as a result. Hopefully she can show this consistency for a number of years. If so, she'll make a lot of future teams.
