So we live in 2016. Everybody running today grew up with participation trophies and support socialist/commie ideals. That means that they don't work hard or take risks to be great. They run safe (read: scared and weak).
They have no balls, much like our current president. So what we will see is a bunch of weak minded, emasculated men jog a 2:10 800m split -- probably slower and finish in 3:48. NO ONE WILL MAKE THE A STANDARD WHO DOESN'T ALREADY HAVE IT. The pace will be a joke and the usual Centro, Manzano, etc. will take the win. You heard it here first.
Will this be the slowest 1500m final in trials history? YES it will

The field is almost identical to last year's race, which was won in 3:37. Centro closed in 1:48, Andrews in 1:49, Manzano and Blankenship in 1:50.
That race went out slow (about 2:03 at 800m). If this one starts out honest, say 1:58-2:00 at 800m, then it will probably be won in 3:35 or faster, because any move Centro makes, Andrews will match, and those guys will battle it out for the win.
This 2:10/3:48 talk is ridiculous. -

GUARANTEED
These things are always slow and stupid -
Participation trophies have nothing to do with the pace of tonight's 1500. The goals are to win, place top 3, beat as many as possible. Going balls to the wall from lap 1 would ruin your chance at any of those goals. In fact, it's almost an assured way to DFL and get an A for effort. You can then claim you led the first or second lap of the 1500m USA finals, which ironically would be its own participation trophy.

^This.
OP is probably a member of the entitlement generation (aka Baby Boomers, aka those who have destroyed America, aka the WORST generation) who is bitter about his lack of accomplishments in life and that fact that he has to use b0ner pills to get it up these days. -

unless the top runners run like they are supposed to and actually race instead of pace. THere are 5-6 runners in this race that have no chance. THey need to push the pace. -
I don't think it will be.
Too many contenders need to run the "A" standard. -

Yeah, you're way tougher than them, dude. You're like, probably the toughest guy on these boards. Back in your prime, I'm sure you would have run all of these chumps into the dirt and made them cry for their mommies. How easy it would have been for you to beat up on such wimpy femboys. I can't get over how strong and awesome you probably are. Can't wait for you to be proven right about the all-time slow times! -
After tonight's 5,000m I'm certain OP is correct. Pathetic.

Who rounds out the USA team?
My prediction
-centrowitz
-andrews
-anyone's race here but I feel like wheating/manzano pulls this out -
it'll be slow and stupid like the rest of the trials, but at least no WCAP runners (I wish there were!) so that means I won't have to read all the complainy pants crap from LR after the race.
It's going to be Centro, Manzano and Blankenship, Andrews in close 4th.
I'm counting on a slow race. -
I think it goes out in 4:05 pace and ends in 3:45.
Centro and Manzano for sure. 3rd is a total toss up. -
Centro, Blankenship, non-standard owner, Merber, with Robby and Leo faltering badly.
-
Andrews, Centro, Blankenship
Afterwards, when Vigilante comes to congratulate him, Robby will hit him with the Shawn Michaels sweet chin music and rip off his Adidas kit to reveal an NOP jersey underneath. He and Centro will form a new heel tag team and go into Rio as teammates. -

But I love the "sit-n-kick" type race! This notion that a 3:35 (which is good) runner is better off pushing the pace against 3:31 runners is just silly!!! -

-wheating
-MERBER/leo
You heard it here first -
But if they are going to just jog the just have the 5 who have the standard line up and get the rest out of there. All they will do is get in the way of somebody who has a legit shot at rio

Like in last night's 5k. Several runners go for the A and die trying, while the pack remains in hobby-jogging mode. -
If you do not get a medal not getting a SB in the Final of the US Champs is underperforming.
