Jordan spoke after the 1500. Video here:
https://youtu.be/3MJkwvYTfQc
Despite being the final time qualifier for the final McNamara is not content to just be in the final. He wants to try and make the Olympic team and that means he needs to run under the Olympic standard of 3:36.20 in the final. To do that, Jordan says he has has to have another running working with him. He knows Izaic Yorks is a prime candidate saying, “Izaic if you're watching this bro, DM me on twitter.... let's make an alliance or somethingâ€. Jordan was clear what his intentions for the final were, “I don't really care to run here and run 3:50 for 7th, I'd rather give it an honest go or be last honestly. It's top 3 with the time or it doesn't matter... This is the Trials final.†When we confirmed Jordan viewed the final as a chance to make the Olympics and not just a US final he said, “"What do we train for?â€
But he knows he can’t hit the time without some help. “You can't do it alone. You need help, you need cooperation, so the people who don't have the standard and want to give it an honest go contact me and maybe we can work something out.â€
Jordan McNamara Wants to Work With Yorks or Someone in the Final: "It's top 3 with the time or it doesn't matter"

This dude gets it. Wheating has gone soft. Go Jordy! Take them to the danger zone or whatever a la Duane Bang
-
If he's actually serious about it, then he should be contacting other runners not saying, "Hey, if you're watching this, tweet at me"
-
He makes sense
-
I wouldn't but money on those words, most never deliverer. Odds...long shot he does what he says.......bad bet
-
Well, he and a few buddies (Leer & Macowski?) attempted the same thing in 2012... failed miserably.
-
Yes, makes sense. They have been trying to achieve standard for 2 months (well actually tried last summer too) in races with rabbits, on "short" tracks, in good fields... But now, in a race without rabbits, they will not only get a sub 3:36.20 (leading the way), but also finish in the top 3 (with guys like Centro... in the field).
Possible (not)... -

THANK GOD. FINALLY! A 1500m runner who wants to work together and run fast. Breath of fresh air. JMac gets it! If you don't have the A standard, the ONLY thing you should be doing is going all out or bust on the 1500m final. Make or break baby! Just don't gimme that 3:45 crap!!! It's the Olympics or the end of your season. Make it a good one!! -
Does he get it? Not only does he need the standard, he needs top 3.
Best way to do both doesn't include announcing your plans to the field. -

I agree with that he shouldn't have probably made it so public, but there's nothing to lose he needs the standard, sit and kick 3:40 won't do him any good. -
The semis was the time to try that.
Work together to make a fast race and just make top 7.
Now you have to make top 3 with more than 3 superior runners sitting on you while you run a pace you couldn't handle the last 12 months in any race you attempted.
Just run to place high.
3rd place without the standard is better than 4th or 5th with the standard and certainly better than 12th while you blow up and miss the standard by a lot.
There's still a chance that the pace goes fast without Jordan leading a step, so he has a better chance to make the team that way.
Go for the percentages not the big brave blowup.
Holman made the 92 team getting the standard at the finals of the Trials by following Spivey who wanted a fast pace because no one could keep up with him.
Blankenship may want to run the kick out of Manzano and that would help J Mac get the standard. -
Dude. J-Mac didn't make the final. He got DQ'd shortly after this interview =/
-
If he does try, it will be poorly executed. Most runners are bad at leading themselves out at the right pace from the gun.
I expect something like 55-60-62 for the first three laps. -

...
Ding, ding, ding...
The real time to try that was when he was in races that had 2 or 3 rabbits in the last 2 months.
I remember him a couple of months ago starring down a guy in the last 10m of a race, where he came from way behind and kicked for the win in 3:38...
Maybe that would have been a better time to try to run 3:36.2
If he had enough energy to stare down the guy who ended up finishing second, maybe he should have gone up there in the last 500m to try to make it a 3:36 race... Instead of simply kicking hard in the last 100m
Odds of Jordan running sub 3:36.2 in the final = 0%
Odds of TV announcer saying his name and showing him on TV = 100%
He knows that... -

J_Mac doesn't have the courage to lead the 1st quarter in 57-flat even if God assured him he would keep the pace rolling as a rabbit himself. These are the terrible habits you develop when your seasonal focus is the St Louis mile. These Oregon guys who don't have the standard should be ashamed. All the mid-distance runners in the OTC and they didn't set up a 1500 somewhere and have a couple of their 800m runners rabbit?

Seriously or you playin? -
Why is anyone faulting him for wanting to go for the Q and the top 3? Sure he should jave done it earlier but this is what he has to do. It's like faulting a football coach for going for it on 4th and 25 when that's the only way he could win

in this interesting article from today's seattle times newspaper--yorks confirms that he will be going for the a standard in the final--- http://www.seattletimes.com/sports/olympics/former-husky-izaic-yorks-advances-to-1500-final-at-us-olympic-trials/

I like it! normally I can't stand watching finals in a distance race because everyone runs like pussies, just trying not to lose. Get out there and take it!
