It certainly matters. Mr Obvious says that the order wasn't 8-4-12-16 where he ran. So in order to ascertain why more information is needed. Where I ran the order was always 8-4-12-16. Division 1, Penn Relays, etc. Obviously there was an official switch at some point, or perhaps Division III or JuCo ran some other order? There is, I'm sure, some coach, or rabid track fan out there that probably can fill in the details?
But without any additional commentary from Mr Obvious his statement "not where I ran" is of little value in this conversation.
As I mentioned, the exception was Colonial Relays, as our leadoff was a very good 800 runner (sub 1:48) who thought, of course he was running 800, as we did, putting him on the lead leg. After the first lap, he took off, opening up a 200 meter lead, or so, only to come down the homestretch and find the lap counter saying 1 to go. We thought he had made a mistake (lap counter), but alas, we and our runner made the mistake. End result is his third lap was not pretty. Weeks later at Penn the 800 leg was first, as it had been.
