In the qualifying information it says they take 32 men for the 800m, yet the "accepted" list only goes to 30 though other are declared past 30.
Does anyone know what the deal is? Thanks.

Only 30 hit the standard. They don't have to accept non-qualifiers. Still can have 4 sections in first round if needed. Bottom line is Americans are losing ground I. The 800and by making the standard tougher to motivate the athletes, the result is they haven't caught up to the standard as a group. Others may have dropped. The standard was 1:47.89 in 1988for reference.
Dude, you're out to lunch on this one. The automatic standard was 1:46:00. There are a BUNCH of guys declared and accepted over that. There is no difference between the guys right in front of #31 and #32 on the list. Look it up.
The USATF has accepted the last two guys, so the field now is 32.
