Not even going to mention hurdles, sprints, and throws, but pretty disappointing that they can't get a single female under 2:00 or 15:00.

o_k
yep. And we hear on here time and time again how no race but the oly trials compares to Japanese road races. Lets face it, the Japanese do not know what they are doing.
Yeah, and the runner-up in that women's 5000m beat all Americans and finished 9th in World last year.
Ever heard of running "tactical" races at championships?
unusually slow(for them) at the championships.they normally have at least one woman who can run 800 metres in two minutes flat, and perhaps one woman at any one time who can 400 hurdle in 56 seconds,or so.the japanese are much more into marathons, and road races.
Uh, ever heard of tactical races at championships?
Do you ever watch NCAAs? My point exactly.
Typical LRC idiot poster.

13m37s for 5k is superslow.
they cant even make it into final
Dominique Scott 15:25 / 31:56.
Ayuko Suzuki 15:08/ 31:18.
I bet Suzuki will crush Scott in haed-to-head.
Wait, they already raced each other, in Payton Jordan when both marked their 10k PB.

Wasn't the last mile of this race sub 4? What a ridiculous race
that is no shame--almost every country would say the same, and don't forget that champs can be in hot weather and/or tactical.

It's called running drug free
arigato
Salazar is single-handidly saving Japanese distance running. His athlete is in both the 5000m and 10,000m for Japan in the Olympics.
If Salalzar coached Japan, they would have several sub-3:35 1500m runners, several 13:10 guys and several 27:20 guys.
