All this hype over Brazier running 1:43 but do people not remember when Robby Andrews (as a sophomore I believe) ran 1:44 in not so favorable nasty rainy conditions?? He passed SEVEN people in the last 200.. and on the curve! at one point almost in lane 3! In my opinion this is still the most mind blowing 800m races I've seen.... He skipped indoor and had slight injuries much like both Brazier and McBride...
All respect to Brazier.. but this one is still not topped for me

yeah, robby's 800 is still my favorite t&f race ever along with the 2000 sydney olympics 10000m where Geb nips Tergat at the line.
That being said, Brazier's 800m was phenomenal and definitely a race to be well-remembered.
How many records did he break in that race? How old was he at the time?
That was one of my favorite races ever to watch.

I wish Robby had never won this race (or any big race) in that way. It's a habit that's stayed with him in every single race as a pro. Going to the very, VERY back of the field and waiting until less than 200 to go is the only strategy I've ever seen him use. Yes, he's had his fair share of success with it, but Robby, for the love of God, you can't make up 15m in the final 200 when you're racing the best in the world! It drives me crazy watching him spot the field so much distance every single time.
Just re-watched that race (thanks for the link). That Robby Andrew's win in 2011 is at least the equal of the 1:43.55 Brazier win. Both runners have amazing gifts. Hope to see Robby kick some a$$ at the trials and at Rio.
