Usain Bolt had a terrible start in the big showdown in Jamaica vs Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell at the JN Racers Grand Prix. but he stormed from behind to take the win in 9.88 despite letting up before the finish.
Nickel Ashmeade in lane 8 came up to get 2nd.
The big 3 were all in the center lanes with Bolt, sandwhiched between Blake and Powell. Great race before what looked like a paced house.
This was only the fourth time the Big 3 Jamaicans had raced according to the broadcast.
As for the start Bolt said, "I almost fell over. I tried to control it" and said he'll keep getting faster each time out but things are "very good" heading into the Jamaican Trials.

He also stopped pumping his arms with ~15 meters to go. Good race
-
That was a pretty nasty surge to run them down. It didn't even look like he was pressing after 40m because he knew he would get them.
-
I wanna see Bolt run a 200m. See if he has any chance of going sub 19
-
Bolt looked strong. Hope he stays healthy.
Great run by Ashmeade. -
Bolt is back, from his drug treatments...
He nearly falls flat and still runs almost as fast as Carl Lewis ever ran.
As long as his handlers get him to the line in Rio, he wins, he is the golden goose and can't be touched but his performance's now look like a complete farce and everybody who watches knows it. -
Bolt is back? Back from where exactly?
Won every global championship since 2008 (save the FS in 2011), beat the seemingly then unbeatable Gatlin when it counted last year, opened with a 10.09, then a 9.98 in cool conditions into a slight wind in Ostrava ...
Other than injuries in 2010 and a sluggish start last season, he has never been close to "gone".
Amazing how little perspective so many fans can have, when after last night's race the consensus is "Bolt is back!!"
And as an aside ... Powell isn't looking so good. It's a shame after the crazy times he put up indoors. -
Jamaican Trials 100m will be
1 - Usain Bolt - 9.8 Q
2 - Nickel Ashmeade - 9.9 Q
3 - Yohan Blake 9.9 Q
4 - Kemar B-Cole - 9.9Q
5 - Asafa Powell - 10.0
6 - Michael Frater - 10.0
7 - Jason Livermore - 10.1
8 - small-time sprinter like Chadic Hinds etc -

I may have misunderstood you but he's run this race a few times. -

Yep. He's one of these athletes that seems to go into hiding for most of the year, then comes out when he needs to around the big championships.
Great for the sport. Not.
Even Coe has complained about Bolt racing so little. -

Bolt it BACK! Runs 9.88 to Take Down Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell Despite TERRIBLE Start
Put a wrench on it. Lock it down. He ain't going nowhere. -
With this race, and with Gatlin race in Pre Classic, Justin Gatlin seems to have zero chances of beating Usain Bolt in Rio.
With that terrible start (that cost him 01 seconds), Bolt proved that already is in 9.8mid form (tailwind was +1.0). 9.80 basic with good start. And he was tanking in the last 5/10 meters!!! He's in better form that last year at this point of the season!!
So, in Rio, we could see a sub 9.70, something unreachable for Gatlin, given that Justin Gatlin had his best form last year, and yet his SB (and PB) was 9.74. This year, he hasn't that supreme shape, at least, for what we saw..
Folks...It's easy...even with a mediocre start, Bolt is going to run down everybody after 60/70m. -

'Sup Asafa? Looked a little slow on Saturday, how's the training going? -

Back from being last and beaten 2s into the race.
That was a sick performance. Bolt must have lost at least two tenths at the start, and another half a tenth by letting up and coasting before the finish. Allowing one more half tenth for sub-optimum wind (+1.0 m/s), he must be in close to WR shape. -

Nah, I reckon he lost 0.1 or less at the start, and maybe 30-40cm easing up. Puts him in about 9.7-mid shape if it all goes right. He could improve a bit with more work and a taper. I think sub-9.70 in Rio. And he'll win. -
insane!
