Is there still a 2 mile world record or was it dropped? It is not listed on the iaaf.org offical world records.
I believe the mile is the last world record for imperial distances.

It's gone into the category of "world's best" because it's so rarely run. Same with 3 miles, 6 miles, etc. and the indoor 10000m. Also odd distances such as 150m and 300m.
That being said, 7.58.61 Daniel Komen 1998
Daniel Komen: what a beast.
Also doped? His 3000 m record has to be the strongest world record out there after Johnson's 19:32.
7:20 is outstanding, but 12:37 for 5k is way better.
McMillan has 7:14/12:37 as equivalent.

There is no way that 12:37 is the equivalent of 7:14. Think about this. Geb went after this record on a number of occasions and never got all that close. EL G has gone after it and is still more than 3 seconds away. There is a reason that this record is 7 years old with two of the all time greats having taken numerous shots at it. On his best day, with EL G rabbiting, and perfect conditions, there is no way that Bekele runs 7:14. Or vise versa for that matter.
I'd disagree with the calc. on that one. 2:25.x, 2:29.x, 2:29.x. Slowest lap 59.9. Average of 58.77. A 5km of equal greatness will have to be closer to 12:30.
I know this is the easy way out, but I would say the records are almost exactly the same. 3:54 1600m pace for 3000m vs. 4:02 1600m pace for 5000m. The 10k is definitely the weakest of the three, but it is also the most difficult to break (quality of record beind equal) because it requires the best pace-setters and is the most affected by the weather, hydration, etc. etc. Bekele is going to destroy the current 10k record before it's all over, sub 26 wouldn't surprise me.
Yes, but look at the performance list: granted, the 3000 isn't raced very often, but look how well he's gapped the nearest competitor, and the nearest competitors aren't exactly slouches: El G and Geb, coming in at 7:23 and 7:25 respectively.
