Any tips for running a faster 400? Especially for the non sprinter
Sprint HARD, all out, the first 40 to 50 meters. It won't hurt the rest of your race and it vets you up to speed quickly.
Do quality speed work like all out 100-200-300-400 & some 500-600 for endurance. Focus on form. Hit the weights. And you should race it like this.. get out HARD the first 100 and don't slow down (many inexperienced people do this) but cruise or "stride" by holding your speed. Don't start sprinting at 200 because you'll DIE. hang tight but just start speeding up and once you hit that last turn try accelerating again and just focus on your arm drive and form.
