Donovan Brazier winning got me thinking
he is likely to be the hot hot favourite for world juniors title.
however, despite being the #3 man in the world right now, his lack of experience in international matches might hurt his chances of medalling (perhaps at best, the bronze meda) but his chances of hitting Olympics finals seems palatable
Hence, Which is more prestigious: winning the World Juniors or reaching the Olympics Final?
For me, making the olympics title is for sure much more prestigious. World junior title is cool and all but in a grand scheme of things, it does not really matter

If I was going to pick just one of them to accomplish in my career, I would definitely pick Olympic final. However, if I accomplished both of them, I could potentially see the World Junior title as being a fonder memory in my career (depending on circumstances, obviously).
That being said, nothing is guaranteed, and as a young athlete I would probably try to go to the Olympics if I thought I had a shot. -
Strike while the iron is hot. He is not guaranteed this fitness in the future. Olympic Games are once every 4 years. Take the opportunity while you MAY have it.
Just like Berian last year, he is far from a lock going three rounds at the OT. Obviously a huge talent. I hope he gives it a shot. The cool life experience of the Olympic Games cannot be matched! -
Just going to the Olympics is more prestigious than World Juniors. WJ means nothing to the public. Being an Olympian will mean something for the rest of your life.

Everything age-graded, be it old or young, is for losers and wannabes.

Olympics. Without a doubt.
Even more, Brazier is not "a lock" for the gold in World Juniors final. There are 2 Kenyans running in the 1:44's (one of them, in Nairobi's altitude, and the other is the reigning World Youth Champion and is running very well in Euro meetings), so, it could be a tactical race, or...if these 2 work together with certain paces and team strategy...it's not going to be so easy for Brazier. -
Getting there now will be a great experience that could benefit him in 4 years by not getting caught up in the pageantry and allowing for more development and focus. Provided he can improve his conditioning and maintain good health. 1:43 one time isn't even a guarantee he would make a final anymore so just getting there and getting as much experience as possible would be most important.

There are 2 Kenyan's.* -
What?
An apostrophe? -
Olympics easily.
I hope Brazier PASSES on the OT's. If he's that casual, to the point of not respecting the Games- let someone else go instead who wants it. -

That last part makes no sense to me... -

Ummm, but then he would have to race Semenya. And that dude's final 100m is scary fast. -

If a 1:43 800m guy has to think about going to the Olympics, then he doesn't respect the Games nearly enough. Runners quit jobs, "ruin" their lives to get the chance. -
Olympics. Not even a discussion.

Both.
In 2012 two 400 runners medalled at WJs (1st & 3rd) and made the Olympic final. The Cuban and the Aussie. -

They both were probably HS champs too. It doesn't mean that's on par with the OG. -
Sorry Dominican.

Getting there now will be a great experience that could be to his benefit in... less than 4 months at the Rio Olympics.
