I developed a stress fracture about a year ago. I battled with it for a couple of months and then took 10 weeks off to heal it. I started running again and it felt great. I started at 10 miles a week and worked up to 25/week over 8 weeks. Its been six months since I started running again and I am now running 40-50 miles per week 5 times a week. I have no pain when running but recently when I touch the spot of the injury it hurts and twinges a bit.
I am somewhat obsessive compulsive and have a tendency to touch the old hot spot when I feel something. Sometimes to the point that I hurt myself again. My wife thinks I'm nuts. She's probably right.
My question is, am I okay? Is the injury healed? I am just feeling after pains? I have not problems running. I do run in Wisconsin, where we have to switch between snow and pavement running at this time of year a lot.
Any suggestons to make sure I get to the starting line of Boston in one piece and finish?
Thanks!
Joe
