American Track League Atlanta- Live on ESPN2 at 5:00

I looked at the Start List and never heard of any of these people. Is this meet like a Corporate cup thing or something?

Longest men's race is 400m ? meh

no mens race over 400???

What a random event list. One field event, one distance event, 5 men's track events and 7 women's track events.

I enjoyed watching the men's 1500 at this meet last year and meeting the runners afterwards, but there are good distance races a few hours away at Furman and in Nashville today. There aren't as many options for sprinters (that I know of, at least).

Nesta Carter, subject of rumors about a positive drug test from the 2008 Olympics, is on the 100m start list. Angelo Taylor is on the start list for the 400 m hurdles.

Remember, the organization's goal is to package a track and field meet well. It isn't the Diamond League, where the competition of big names is the attraction.

Watch it for it's presentation, engagement, and management, and then come back here and discuss whether it is a good model or not. Star power and event lists are the easiest part to improve later.

They have a fair amount of recognizable names, I don't think star power is the issue if the racing is compelling - but the event lists ? No means mid-d or distance events and one women's distance event? Tough to improve on that later if you don't attract fans early on - and this doesn't do it for most of us.

I will be tuning in for sure. I don't mind that there aren't any distance events...that's why there's other events to watch later: Furman Elite, Birmingham Diamond League and Portland Track Festival next week.

Huh? Distance races absolutely do not attract fans. They would be idiots to fill this meet with boring distance races.

You distance kids are so beyond delusional.

Mark Hollis wins at 5.70m/ 18' 8.25", right at Olympic standard (he already has jumped 5.71m in May), Barber 2nd at 5.50m.

Everyone is trying to get the standard before the Trials so no one wants to run a mid-D or D race in Atlanta. Everyone is going to Portland for the D.

Nobody said anything about filling the meet with distance races - but just one on the men's side would be nice. At least half the t&f fans are ditance fans - so they just cut out 50% of the fan base.
