I'm racing my first 10K in 2 weeks. I've been trainig with both drinks on my 10 mile long runs. I don't know which drink I should carry in my water bottle on race day. I'm all set though on the gels. I'll be using GU.

its an effin 10k, you don't need any gu or powerade, you prolly don't even need it for a half marathon let a lone a 10 miler
I just ran my first 5K today and I used Gatorade. It worked great for me. And Im also big fan of the GU Gel. It really helps because those 5Ks just really take a lot out of me but the gel and gatorade really help.
By the way, I saw Jason Rexing run a 15:58 in trainers today
You tools... the last time I checked you do NOT need GU or Gatorade for a 5k or 10k unless you are Gsllowalking to s 2 hour effort...You have got to be kidding me...

I think you're in luck.
have you been using GU on your training runs? If not ..you dont need it..if you have been using it..then use it
Just make sure you pack a fanny pack for your race with lots of gu, toilet paper, nip guards, vaseline, and powerade. You should be fine.
You should probably get the camelback 64oz and fill it with half gatorade and half powerade. But be careful, and ration your energy drink because once you've consumed all of it you'll have to wait for the next mile marker to get additional fluids. Also, bring a fanny pack and put 10 powergels in it, one for every Kilometer. That should get you to the finish line. Once you've finished be sure to hustle over to the apres-race tent and load up on bagels and bananas, your body will need some sustinance to recover from the race. In fact, grab some extras and put them in your athletic bag.
At the start of the race remember to line up in front. You paid your entry fee and you've trained hard for this race. No one should prevent you from getting across the start line immediately after the pistol is fired. If one of the "elite" runners gives you any flack remind them of the importance of sportsmanship.
You are using gels for a 10K?
Get off the high protein diets.
I have a lot of friends who use the gel for 5Ks, and of course 10Ks. I couldn't imagine running a 10K without the gel. That stuff does wonders!
I was just wondering which sports drink would be more beneficial for the one mile fun runs? I've always been a gatorade fan because it tastes so refreshing, but I hear powerade gives you that extra edge that I would need for the mile run.
Also....do you recomend using GU gel for the fun run?
And most importantly, don't forget to load up on carbs the night before. A 10k (at your pace) could be a grueling hour or so of racing, which means that you are going to need to eat at least 8 cups of pasta the night before, and you might as well start loading all throughout the prior week. Try to get your intake up to at least 5 cups a day for a week straight, if possible.
