It'll be interesting to see whether German or Chris Derrick does better here.
-
Seeing as the WR holder is running, I'll take Yator for the win.
-
Jenkins running this is huge. If Rupp isn't fit enough in the next few weeks I can see him not making the 10,000 team. Rupp, True, Mead, Lagat (if he runs it) and Jenkins will battle for those spots. Doubt German or Derrick will be factors at the end due to injuries. Lenny Korir and Shadrack Kipchirchir should be in the mix as well.

jenkins over derrick in this race?
hard to say since it is openers for both and debut at 10000 for jenkins
I'd go with the veteran in this one - just because probably jenkins will be conservative in his debut at the distance.
probably for both goal one is to get a standard and goal 2 is to race. -
I kind of wonder if German is a pacer. Hasn't he rabbited at Pre in the past?
I was hoping to see Chris Derrick here. I'd love to see him PR here but he may simply go for the standard for Rio.
Also curious to see what Jenkins does here. If he does well I guess we will probably see him the the 5/10k double at the trials. -
Also I see Edris is entered in both the 10k and the 5k. I can't imagine he is racing both on back to back days. Maybe pacing one of them?

Why do you keep posting that it is a 10000 debut for Jenkins? Literally not true at all. -

I'll stop
I looked at the IAAF page for him and there was nothing so I took that at its word. http://www.iaaf.org/athletes/united-states/eric-jenkins-270424 -
wow! stacked! MF for the win in 26:33.13

I hope the pace is fast to keep Mohamad Farah from getting cozy. Tadese used to be the man to keep it honest. Haven't seen him lately, but I barely pay attention.
Also hoping Jenkins sets a huge PR. Should be fun to see. Curious what kind of shape he's in. -

It looks like the IAAF missed the 2012 Shamrock Invitational in Conway, SC, where he won the 10,000 in 31:23.97 while he was at Northeastern. He finished 35 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, James McBride from Millersville.
FWIW, he's run faster -- 29:39.6 -- on a 10K cross country course. -

Uh, and, you know, he was 2nd at NCAAs to King Ches? 28:59. -

You mean that time when everyone got all riled up trying to decide whether Ches screwed Jenkins at the line or Jenkins got lazy and let Ches by him?
Of course I know about that. Or, uh, I used to know about that...
Talk about brain farts. That was embarrassing. -
What does anyone really know? wrote:

It is OK.
Would you like to discus? -
Muktar Edris plays no pacing game, man. He's only doing the 10.
-
Anyone else surprised to see Tariku Bekele and Tadese in here? I definitely thought they were out of the game. Have I missed something? Maybe coming back to the track for one last shot at Olympic glory?
-
Jenkins top American. No Cam Levins?
-
27:30 winning time. Play your cards right, Derrick.
