Hold it, that's his GF? She did the same to me when I broke 4:30 a few weeks ago!

Ah, young love.
What you thought you saw didn't happen.
She tried to do the same to me last night but I was able to escape.
Narcissistic and egoistic gf.

Yeah, no kidding. This is definitely a major faux pas rules-wise.

Millennial.
Has to make the moment about herself.
Probably a narcissistic runner girl, frankly.
That wasn't a girl - it was Evan Jager
He does pole vault , she dry humps, let it go already!
Dude will be lucky to get that in about 10 years when he is married.

You obviously have never been dry humped - because that isn't an example of it.

Fact.
I guess you've never seen anyone win the World Series-

Not a dry hump, but definitely not a good move by the girlfriend. You can even tell he doesn't like it by the way he throws her to the side. She shouldn't have done that so soon. Give him 30 seconds to revel in the victory. It is about him; he is at an age where it is okay for it to be about him. Soon enough, in ten years or so, it'll be about "them" and possibly their kids. Actually, most likely it'll be about him and some other girl (or maybe a guy or a trans if he goes that direction).
And whoever mentioned the thing about spoiling his parents' memory of the event... totally on point. Even though it is silly, it is 100% true.

Married and wife is pregnant, thanks for playing though.
I said I wasn't "joking", but I never said anything about not "exaggerating". ;)
Can someone tell me why he went so high on the attempt? If he had previously done 18' even and the record was 18-3.5, why not go for 18-3.75 or 18-4 instead of 18-4.75?
Just curious why he added the extra 1.25 to the previous record mark?

25 years from now he'll be like, what was her name again? Regardless, he should enjoy the BJs while they last. Soon, he'll just be another married brah deep in the full experience of post nuptial shut off.
He did ask for it to be put at 18-4, but after he cleared the height they re-measured for record purposes and it was actually 18-4.75. This did get me wondering how often in competition standards are actually put at the wrong height. They only re-measure for record purposes.

I started the thread not to shame her, but because I thought the whole thing was funny (especially how he threw her off). But I did think to myself how I might have been embarrassed and annoyed by the whole thing if I was him.
In her defense, it's exactly the kind of thing many high school girls would do. Counting against her is that she's actually a freshman in college and probably should have known better.
She apparently goes to community college (source:
http://www.milesplit.com/articles/183137-18-feet-climbing-chris-nilsens-journey-to-the-pole-vault-national-record) and he's off to a DI school on scholarship. 99.99% chances they'll be broken up within the year and he'll be banging sorority chicks. If not though, then good for them and one day they'll look back on this video and laugh.
Thanks for the quick reply. I should have read more into it. Interesting.

OT standard is the short answer, but it is worth reading the thread.
