You best be showing "Personal Best". Now that's a good movie.
Blade Runner
Come on I need some real running movies.
"Pre", "Without Limits", "Running Brave", "Fire on the track", "Chariots of fire" and "Monty Python and the holy grail"
mmm...how about "running on the sun" about the badwater ultra?
you can borrow it if you want (dvd)
get "endurance" its about haile geb. awesome movie.
Ross to the group: (When Emily and Susan are in London having fun together) "Haven't you seen Persoanl Best?"
Joey: "No, but I'm gonna!!"
Hey "Personal Best" is a real running movie with some girl on girl action to make it interesting. Wait, I forgot, this is for a Colorado Springs audience. We don't want Focus on the Family protesting your store. So, how about "On the Edge".
Choice #1: Personal Best
Choice #2: On the Edge
Choice #3: Endurance
Choice #4: That one with Ryan O'Neal as the U.S. Olympic marathoner.
Documentary Choices: Bud Greenspan's "Olympiad" episodes on the marathon and Emil Zatopek.
Choices for Ceremonial Burning of Videotape: Anything that attempts to glorify the cocky drunk from Oregon ("Without Limits," "Pre," etc.), "Chariots of Fire" (heresy, I know, but I think it sucked), "Running Brave," and all of those '70s running movies variously starring Michael Douglas, Joanne Woooward, and Bob Newhart.
By the way, there were two versions of "On the Edge," one of which had moderately steamy sex scenes with Bruce Dern (ewww!) and Rae Don Chong (or whatever her name is).
It's reaching, but "Marathon Man" has some clips of Abebe Bekila (sp.?). Best scene, though, is Hoffman in the dentist's chair, and Olivier as the sadistic dentist. ("Is it safe?")
"The Jericho Mile" isn't horrible, and certainly has its fans.
"The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner" is somewhat similar in its theme, and is probably a much better movie, but it might not be a fun time for those who are expecting a movie about running.
Try this:
"Chariots of Fire" just came out with a special-edition DVD. The film has its detractors, but remember it's the only track movie to ever win an Oscar or even be nominated for one. I love it, but then I actually like Pride and Prejudice and all that Jane Austen crap, too.
Finding it is not easy, but the silent film "College" with Buster Keaton is possibly the best track and field physical humor ever done. Not that there's a lot of it out there.
Now let's see if we can just find a running-themed sports bar for drinks before/after.
Excellent site.
The Ryan O'Neal movie was "The Games."
Another one: "The Lonely Runner."

Actually, I was thinking of "The Loneliest Runner."
do you really need help with this? I mean, how many movies have been made about running? just show vision quest
5,000 meters!
runningmovies.com, as mentioned before is the way to go. there are several documentaries on Hayward Field, a movie on a hs native american team which is awesome and really exemplifies how great native american runners are due to the way they are raised. there's the Lasse Viren movie: running is your life
Without Limits is the best
