Geneseo 48
Williams 64
MIT 89
Amherst 107
Geneseo is the real deal
Did Hussein run?
It looks like geneseo is back to their old non-podium selves. Peaking in September and fizziling hard when it matters. Color me shocked if they crack the top 10 at nattys.

must hurt to lose on the home course, huh?
Williams always loses Purple valley--beating MIT is the real prize. SUNY G believe.
Wow, Williams gets ABSOLUTELY TOASTED on their home course. Geneseo is a 100% SCRUB FREE ZONE. I went from 6 to 12 watching the Genny boys run pickups after the race. Isaac, you can pick me up any time. Please call me.
To the rest of the NESCAC, let this be a lesson: Williams is clearly the 'safe space' of DIII XC. They let everyone at that college run, and what happens? The SCRUBS rise to the top, my friends. I mean for God's sake, their mascot is a stuffed teddy bear. The Genny boys ran like MEN today. Williams, as predicted, stumbled through that race like a PACK of BLIND CATTLE. I didn't see any PASSION. I didn't see any DRIVE TO SURVIVE.
Well done Genny boys, you swept through the Purple Valley like syphilis in the French court.
All things considered, props to Williams for getting pictures of the race posted before any actual results. Remarkable.
Wow, coming in I though it would be Bates' 9:20 (at altitude, so it converts to 8:59) 2 miler who would steal the show this year; however, it is clear now that Williams could field a National Championship team solely of freshman.
Here's the beeph: 4 years ago, Bijan Mazaheri ran 16:38 ftw at Purple Valley. This year, 7 Williams freshman bested that performance under the rock solid leadership of Ryan Coxxx himself.
And, moreover, Williams has in its arsenal a 7 time Mississippi state champion with the likes of Ben Hearon.
At this rate, Williams' freshman class will upend all of the upperclass scrubs (sans Ben Decker) to nab the varsity spots and lead the charge against a soft D3 field.
It appears that Williams freshman have just discovered the Internet (getting your naughty pics from magazines still, boys?) and found LetsRun. Good jokes, but this forum is for men. Go hug your teddy bear and leave us alone.
Love,
Mo "DEVASTATED by IGC" Hussein
Geneseo is good, no question, but 5th place was 21st, so they can be beaten at nationals by this Williams team, particularly with so much talent among the freshmen. I have no idea what their high school times were, because there is no information in the bios this year, but they had a 13 second spread as they scored 15 in the frosh 5k, and low to mid 16s are fast on that course for d3. The frosh put up 13 in the top 20 in that race, all roughly within a minute and a bit. So, quite a few have the potential there to run varsity later this season. All those sub 26s in the varsity race are very quick. It is hard (for d3) to even run low 26 on that course (and Williams averaged 25:50), as previous results will show. As for putting up photos quickly, that would be because you don't need results to be gone through to put them up, and you always want to put up beautiful photographs of the Berkshires in fall.
Leaving aside the obnoxious Williams freshmen on LRC, those are really good times for that course. Has it changed since 2007? Looks like Cox and Collaizi were good in high school, but maybe not that good.

There has never been information in the bios. We're currently working on changing that. Carry on.
I have to disagree. Geneseo looks incredible based on the results, and they're deeper than Williams. And Williams' freshmen are good, no doubt, but come on, Williams' top 5 are very solid and not really malleable. I'm sure a couple of the frosh will sneak into the top 7, but I sincerely doubt any will make an impact on scoring this year. Next year, sure, and in 3 years, Williams will still be in the conversation at nationals, but don't let your NESCAC bias blind you to the fact that Geneseo should be ranked #1, and Williams should be happy that they're ranked at #3.
Construction on the school changed the course a bit. Overheard some Williams folk gossiping- ~10-15 seconds quicker this year than it has been in the past. Still some very fast times (esp. for the top 20), but explains the slew under 26:00.
Looking at the changes in the course, it's hard to believe the small detour around the construction site would give runners a 10-15 second advantage. It didn't really cut off any distance...
rather it's likely that the deeper field and number of individuals under 26 is due to the number of ranked teams that competed this year that haven't in the past.

Where are said photos? I want to see the looks of despair on the faces of the Williams runners.
It looks like the next 4 years will be a battle between Bates' 9:20 "at altitude, so it converts to 8:59" 2 miler and a field of 7 williams' "we aren't scrubs" freshman led by the all-powerful Peter "9:15 for 2 miles" Hale.

Attempting to pull this thread out of the Williamstown gutter:
What's up with David Chelimo?
Two years ago, he was going head-to-head with Cotton, who ended up being an NCAA XC runner-up. I know he was injured all of 2015, but does he stand a chance of getting back to form? The dude is one of the nicest, classiest guys out there, and it kills me to see him struggling
Geneseo looked incredible yesterday, but with this being the NESCAC thread and all, I think we should bring things back into focus.
Purple Valley:
Williams had a strong race, but they don't seem as dominant as last year. In 2015, they put 5 runners in the top 15. This year, they put 3 in the top 15. Decker and Hale could challenge Nichols and O'Connor for best 1-2 duo in the conference, and Griffin Colaizzi had a solid race, but Noah Williams dropped from his top-10 finish last year, and Liam Simpson, as improved as he is from last season, trailed in 23rd place.
Amherst dropped from first in 2015 to fourth yesterday, but show promise. Mo is still a low stick, Cosmo Brossy ran a fantastic race, and Steven Lucy has made some marked improvements since last fall. However, Craig Nelson had an uncharacteristically poor performance. Perhaps he's sick, or coming back from an injury? I'm sure he won't be out of the mix for long. With him returned to form, Amherst could make a run for the conference title.
What happened to Colby? They had maybe four runners in the top-10 going into the second baseball loop, and then they all fizzled out. Chelimo tried to take it out like a champ, but it looks like he's still getting used to racing after taking so much time off. I'd never heard of Griffin Gagnon before this race, and he looked really strong. Silas Eastmann was MIA for some reason. Honestly, Colby has a shot at reliving their 2014 glory, so long as they can hold that pack through 8k instead of 6, and get Silas back into the mix.
It looks like Coach Schmidt learned his lesson from indoors and decided to rest Tuft's top guys for the weekend. It would have been interesting to see Nichols run this course, given his performance last weekend. It's safe to say Nichols will be the runner to beat at NESCAC's. I think he's in better shape than Mo at this point in the season.
Question: Does no one else think Connecticut College will be a top-3 team at NESCAC's? Last week's race at UMASS Dartmouth was very promising. Bosworth and Aschale nearly broke 25:00 in September.
Top-15 NESCAC individual predictions as of today:
- Tim Nichols
- Mohammad Hussein
- Ben Decker
- Luke O'Connor
- Peter Hale
- David Chelimo
- Ben Bosworth
- Griffin Gagnon
- Griffin Colaizzi
- Silas Eastmann
- Noah Williams
- Cosmo Brossy
- Liam Simpson
- Steven Lucy
- Craig Nelson
