I have a 7th grade daughter who is having major stress when it comes to racing. She is a hyper-competitive kid, and when she's pushed in a race, she'll push herself harder than most 7th grade girls and be in a lot of pain by the end of the race. This pain that she knows she's going to encounter is the cause of most of her stress.
Any tips for dealing with this pre-race? I think the actual racing is the easier part for her, but getting to the starting line with her wits about her is becoming challenging. As a 7th grader, I'm trying to take pressure off of her, but it's almost like a drug addict, she knows that when pushed she'll push back and it's going to hurt. She has sectionals this weekend and is already a mess about it.
