Steve Spence ran his 40th straight year of sub 5:00 in the mile today with a 4:54. With only being 54 years young I think the streaking hitting 50 years is likely.
Congrats Coach!!!

Father time will win eventually...don't jinx him by hoping he avoids the inevitable decline for another decade.
I don't know how he still does that. There are a lot of guys his age who can still run a decent 5k, but most of them lost their ability to run a sub-5 mile a decade earlier. My hat is off to him, but I would be very surprised if he can still do it in the next year or two.
He's amazing. I wouldn't give him another ten years just because of this, but he has been a model of consistency.
Simply outstanding. What a way to get the team fired up before victory at PSACs this weekend. Way to go Coach!
I heard he's going to be auctioning off advertising space on his left butt cheek for his next attempt. Bidding starts at $500.

Go Steve Spence!!!
The Real Deal.
His daughter has also inherited real deal genes.
That is an unfair advantage.
Come on!
wasn't his 40th year last december? this would then be 41
Congrats! Very cool.

1) Go Steve Spence!
2) …Go Steve Spence!
Fixed.
As one who has fallen off the 55+ cliff, I would not put too many $ on 50 years of sub 5,
Congratulations! It's always a pleasure to see a long time runner still hitting the mile! That's a lot of years to go Sub 5. Meanwhile, Sports Illustrated is putting Jenner on the cover. Am I the only one that things that somewhere along the line, things got screwed up?
You are not the only one. I think that somewhere in your last sentence, things also got screwed up.

Oh really. What race was that?
As the poster above asked, is there a link to the results?
