In terms of pacing, ithis is a 4 x mile. Normally you can string this baby out.
Penn had a great team. 343, 346 348 and awad.
The smartly put the weak link on the 1st leg. Maybe if gtown had put their guns on the opening two legs they could have broken away but that's a risky strategy as normally it's a wind tunnell.
Wind seems to be next to nothign this year. The facts are it didn't appear to be that windy and the guys jogged around for 3 legs.

WTF is with flotrack.
The America s the world men's 4 x 400 was being run 20 minutes ago and we are getting an interview with Wallace Spearmon and the endless ads about Obea Moore and Alan Webb.
The one race I wanted to see -- and perhaps the premier race of the entire meet -- and they don't show it? -
Jon,
90 minutes to call top 5 teams in distance events? When some even overlap.
Like if Nova is in each featured MD/Distance relay, what does it take, 10 minutes to call Marcus to find out Tiernan is not even on the East Coast? How hard is that ? So that folks could even pretend they are informed.
How can you look at the Track at race time in 4 x mile as a race announcer and mistake Ben Malone for Patrick Tiernan in any year?
Same thing yesterday, these folks calling the legs of high visibility teams, and that is all I am referring to here, make so many mistakes it is scary. And I know lineups get moved around. There seems to be no real feel for who people are or Intel on the races. This has been going on for years now.
If I know who they are, how can folks whose job it is to know make so many errors, this is at every meet. It is really 101 type stuff and it is awful. It's inferior, but the only thing out there. -

Houston coach Leroy Burrell (whose Cougars were second in the College Championship of America 4x100, top U.S. team) had some pointed comments on the state of the U.S. relay teams on the NBCSN broadcast:
"I think we’ve gotta put our team together a little earlier if possible. I think we’ve had the same coaches working with these guys for many years and we’ve had failure after failure. It’s possible that it might be time for a bit of a regime change with the leadership. And I think the athletes have to be the catalyst that makes that happen. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to get the stick around. I saw thousands of relays teams yesterday -- maybe not thousands, but hundreds of relays team yesterday get it around. But the professionals can’t. And that’s just not good for our sport."
He's right but the choice has already been made and it's unlikely to change. -

Nice run by Columbia. I always wanted to be the first Ivy team under 7:20 at Cornell. Columbia almost did it today.
Even when they won, they weren't under 7:20. -

Flotrack likely doesn't have the rights to US vs the World. You have to watch that on NBC Sporst network. -
The meet seems to be slowly changing to more of an East Coast affair. Noticeable teams who were MIA; Michigan, Stanford, Oregon, Texas, and UVA.
-
You missed Arkansas and LSU.

Stanford and Oregon men are at Stanford tomorrow to get qualifiers. UVA is at a local invitational because ACC's are next week. LSU stayed at home because of rules regarding finals.
Both Penn and Drake will be losing the entire SEC next year.
