1. I did it 1. to save money, and 2. we don't really watch much TV anyway.
2. We pay $30 a month for wifi and locals. Netflix or Redbox if there is something we really wanna watch. Most good sporting events come on networks, so almost a non-issue.
3. Haven't really noticed much of a difference, which I think is a good thing? No ESPN cravings, wife hasn't voiced any HGTV cravings... the sun keeps rising :-)
You are a sucker if you are paying for local channels. They are free if you have a $10 antenna (though I suppose some people don't get reception where they live for some reason or another).

Never had cable, my parents do. They spend a lot of time in their living room.

Don't have access to cable at the new place.
May do satellite, with DSL. Might just do the DSL. Trying to price all the options.
They are rapidly installing fiber internet all over town, but it does not go to the new house. That would be a no brainer.
I ditched that anti-white marxist programming long ago. My family and I are much better off for it!

Never had it. Cable is expensive. 1500 a year on internet/cable is ridiculous. I'm sure some people pay more and others pay less. But I don't use it enough
Anyways I have a chromecast and just stream stuff off the internet. I highly recommend it.
I have satellite with cable as a backup.
1. Cable is expensive and sucks. Ads? the whole point of paying for TV should be to get rid of the need for ads!
2. netflix, amazon, Vudu, Hulu, as well as streaming news apps, PBS etc.
3. Less exposure to ads, which is the whole point of paying.
You can now cast from your phone to Roku etc. so I can even watch Flotrack on my TV.
A digital antenna is all you need to get local news.

1. I got rid of cable about 6 years ago. It was almost entirely because of the cost.
2. Instead of cable, I read a lot more. I'll watch an episode or two of whatever show I'm into at the moment each night using Netflix or Hulu. For the most part the TV is off. Live sports are watched either at the games or with friends at a local pub.
3. I've noticed that instead of spending money for/on cable and I actually am a bit more social and spend the money on interactions with friends. Be it at a pub or a gathering at someone's home. I consider a better way to spend the money.
I have FIOS internet and TV. The only thing I really watch on TV is sports, particularly MLB, NHL, and NFL. If/when I can figure out a reliable what to watch those three then I'm cutting the TV.

I like watching track. Its worth it to me. But at least I can selectively subscribe to the content I want.
Haven't had cable in 20 years. Way too much garbage.
I do Netflix, hulu and piss away time on the internet in general.

THere's the catch. Local sports especially are not offered (as far as I know ) on any non-cable packages (like SLING or such). You can get ESPN, TNT, etc through a selective streaming package, but if you like watching your local sports teams, I think for now most markets need cable/satellite
I moved to a new apartment a few years ago. I initially planned to set up cable at the new place, but didn't have time to think about it for the first few weeks after the move. By the time it occurred to me to call Comcast, I realized how little I missed my television, and just decided to skip it.
I continue to not miss it at all. If I want to watch a football game, I just grab some dinner or lunch at a bar and watch the game. If I really want to watch some show, I watch on my computer (this doesn't come up too often). Otherwise, there's really no shortage of other stuff to do.
When I visit my family and am reminded of how TV obsessed the average person is, I am pretty glad that I didn't go down that road. Everyone comes home at the end of the day, and the kids plop down in front of one TV, the parents plop down in front of another TV, and grandpa sits in front of a third TV. There they remain until bedtime with a short break for dinner. To each his own, but that just seems miserable to me.
This is interesting because I am turning in my cable box today as I am tired of the constantly increasing fees. I called the other day to cancel, and the representative asked if I was interested in seeing they had a better deal for me. I said fine, if there was a much better deal I wouldn't mind to hear about it. She came back with a 'deal' that she described as "great" and "awesome" which was a whopping $15 savings off the $179 I was already paying. I said "that's it?" She also added that she could remove something else that would drop the price $8 more. I decided just to drop cable tv. It is funny when they send you promotional mailings (I got one that had tv/internet for $49 -for new customers-, why do they send these to existing customers who have had the service for a decade and are ineligible for 'deals?'
I will probably run or read more. I have a HTPC that I built wtih a DVR so a lot of the OTA shows that I enjoy I DVR already.
My internet and phone are delivered over cable. Getting rid of cable would leave me disconnected.
