I will be going to work in Seoul for a year. From what I found, there are several marathons in Korea. Does anyone know which is the biggest? There's one called Joongangilbo Seoul Marathon and one call Chosun Ilbo Chunchon Marathon. They are both pretty big. But the information on the net is poor. I even heard that they are the same marathon with different sponsors. Can someone clarify this?

I have been in Seoul for 2 years. The running scene is the best of any city I have lived in to include NYC. Great parks, trails to run.

Big Marathon here is Dong-A - in March
Also in Fall there is a big one over at Olympic Stadium
All races are about 25 dollars to enter - include dri-fit shirt- the race directors are super friendly and are thrilled to get overseas folks in their races. At Dong-A all overseas folks start at the front no matter what your time is (over 25,000 run this race).

I think that KevB is right. Dong-A (Seoul Intl') Marathon is the biggest. They do have a little English on the site I have linked below.
I will be running it. It seems hard to get any expenses paid for from them though... If you want to run in the elite section, the lady to talk to is Laura.
Thanks for the info. I am surprised to learn that the prize money for women is about half of that for men. Hmmm...

The prize money is pretty good here
Just about every Sunday there is a 1/2 marathon along the Han River
About $500 to the winner mens about 1:13; womens in the high 1:20s
You will also find that the Koreans are very friendly to runners. Every time my wife and I run other runners will come up to us - ask where we are from, ask if we are training for "full course" (Korean term for marathon) etc. My wife also feels 100% safe running alone by the Han River.
I am looking forward to running there :)
