It's a tough day for all of the Magness internet haters out there as he had two athletes in the Boston marathon and they both grabbed top American honors.
Here is a post-race interview with Steve:

(Steve and I are friendly so I gave him a hard time about Zach's time as when Zach, whom I coached at Cornell, ran 2:16 in Boston shortly after being coached by yours truly).
Here is a post-race interview with Neely Spence Gracey (9th in women's race):

and Zach Hine (10th in men's race):

WOW. Talk about rewriting history. -
I know it was a hot day and a slow day overall.
But didn't you just prove the internet haters right? Zach Hine ran 2:16 right after being coached by you...
so how good of a coach is Magness? Even if you give Hine a 2:15 for a nicer day -
Top honours were handed out in February.

They ran Boston in February? I missed that. -
This thread is not going to help Magness, and will just attract "Weak field." and "slow times." comments.
Feeding the trolls.
Dumb move if you're trying to do him a favor. -
She ran 32:16 in 2012. She ran a 15:25 5k last year. It's a good run, but it's just a talented girl moving up running just under 6 min miles.
People always get excited when someone moves up and runs a time inferior to their time at shorter distances.
Not a knock on Neely or Steve. It is what it is. -

What part of it was a slow day all around don't you get? -
They ran well today. I dont know why this would change anyone's opinion of Magness relative to other coaches. Is it supposed to?
You just had a story about the guy who finished as the second American today - you emphasized that he was retired and asked to come out of retirement because no Americans were running.
Magness may be a great coach but this result does not jump out at me. -
Did you ask him about his tweets about Genzebe Dibaba and other members of Aden's group?

Do you go faster per KM at 26.2 than 13.1? I'd like to see that. -
The cold hard fact is Spence and Hine ran pedestrian times and just lucky they were first Americans since this is an Olympic trials year. Both seem like nice people though and wish them the best, but they're AVERAGE PROFESSIONAL runners at their best. I expect Magness (the same guy who ran 4:01 mile in high school and NEVER broke 4 minutes, still baffles my mind!) to totally derail their running careers like he did to his own. The bottom line is Magness, Spence and Hine "just got lucky" today and that is indisputable.

Isn't Magness the guy that was an assistant coach with NOPe for years then only decided to come public with that that they were all cheaters much, much later?
At best he's a former cheater. At worst, he is a complete liar.
And yes, his accusing G. Dibabba of cheating with no basis makes him a total jerk. -
Worst American field ever at Boston. He doesn't deserve much credit for a chick running 2:35 and a dude running 3 min slower than trials qualifier. Let's see where his runners finish in Boston next year. Most over rated coach in the world. His status is all social media driven and mostly by let's run at this point. You should he ashamed rojo.

You guys suck at bashing Magness. He's way better at coaching than you are at being haters. Try better next time please!

Although the title is correct, but it is not noteworthy from a coaching standpoint. Under the circumstances both athletes did OK, but they obviously benefited from about a dozen U.S. athletes not running who probably would have done better. This is not meant to take away from anyone's performance because the athletes can't control who shows up. Like I said, both athletes did OK, but like I also said, it was not noteworthy as in deserving of the thread title from a coaching standpoint.

Hey Swing, away if you're gonna call out these people for bashing Magness at least come back with a good response. Perhaps giving some examples of his "exemplary" coaching. Try better next time please!

Zack Hines isn't a professional runner. He works a full time job as a chemical engineer and just runs for fun. -

No, he's the guy who joined the NOP in 2011 as a coach and left in 2012 and immediately went to USADA.
Of course, you knew that, because he's also the guy you post about under different handles. -
Good god seriously?! wrote:

Thanks for your astounding input, also!
On Patriot's Day in Boston, Magness had the best american athletes. Why is this being trolled? Could 10 athletes of either gender from the US beat them? Sure. But they could have lost to them just the same. The Magness bashing is really boring to read after the first post.
