HS guy here, I am supposed to run unattached this (and next) weekend in a 800m in a college meet. Looking at results last year from this meet, it appeared it was scored but unattached people did not pick up any points (ie if I won, I would not be scored as 10 pts) Does this affect college eligibility or anything? Unattached athletes are allowed but I do not want to risk anything at all. Thank you.

I used to take our best HS athletes to a DIII meet in our area but in the last couple of years they've said that due to a rules change for DIII HS were not eligible to compete.
But I've been to DI meets where top HS athletes compete unattached like Matt Maton at the Oregon Twilight last year.

I have called NCAA compliance on this. You are fine eligibility wise. The only possible complication would be DI, the University could be in trouble for a recruiting violation. That would have nothing to do with you unless you decided to go to that specific institution and only then if they were already in trouble. I've sent many athletes to college meets since this discussion and they have gone on to compete in college.
There is no danger or downside to you as long sit doesn't make you ineligible for your high school competitions (some hs organizations don't allow you to compete unattached).
It will not affect your college eligibility.
