Hello Letsrun. I am a father of 4, blessed with smart and athletic children. Of the four is a sophomore girl, who has a lot of god given running talent. She is the fastest girl on the team (5:15 1600m), and she has won many races. We live in a small community, in a mostly rural state in the south. She usually runs around 65-70 mpw, most of them with me (her coach gave her special permission to let me train her individually, and she is still able to run at the meets).
I just wanted to get a more educated opinion on larger high school competition. Right now I feel as though she's bored with running because she wins so many races. I had the idea of moving to a larger state, (most likely California) to provide stronger competition for her. She's fairly against this idea, but my wife and other kids are all either neutral or supportive of this decision. I feel as though she is getting uninterested in running because of the lack of competition, and I would hate to see her throw away talent just because she wasn't place in the right environment.
