LaMere demolishes the old record 28:38.63. Old Record was 28:48.
Paced by the now #3 all time DIII
Amazing Race, he took it with nine to go by himself and won by almost 20 seconds. Closed in 64 or so.

Should have read paced by John Crain, now #3 all time in D3 for the 10k.
Wow! Congrats to him. Previous best was 29:45? Very cool of Crain to pace.
Wow!!!
That was a long standing record set by Dan Mayer in 1994. Impressive that it was finally bettered. Congrats to Mr. LaMere!

14:32 at 5k.... So he closed in 14:06??
Is my math wrong? I just cannot believe that. Please tell me I am overlooking something basic here.
Not only did he close in 14:06, but he closed in 14:06 with the last 9 laps entirely alone, dropping a 65 in the middle of the last 10k and then slowly winding up the pace the last four laps. 14:06 is close to the D3 record. It would win NCAAs every single year. He is unbelievable. His margin of victory in XC makes a little more sense now.
Pacing Ian last night was a really cool experience. At 5K, I asked the guys around me if they wanted to wind it up a little bit. A heard a few people say "sure". Ian said something like "wow this is easy! Let's go!". The next few laps were 68s from what the coaches were saying around me. Ian clipped my heels a few times the next few laps, when we heard 67 he came up on me a little and said "let's go!" To me again. I stopped at 4 miles in 18:32 and he ran a 65 next lap to run away from the field! That was incredibly impressive, especially for how easy he was making it look.
Also a cool addition to that story is the meet manager, John Oliver, is also a D3 guy. He ran at NCC as well. He's the one who helped set that whole thing up.
Big thanks to the Stanford staff who let me help out, that was a lot of fun. Even though I helped take down a NCC guy from the #1 all time spot, it was an amazing experience, and fun to give back like that.
Never Forget
9.9/10. I don't believe in perfection otherwise it would be 10. Great troll. Need more of this.
John Oliver is hilarious.

I once beat Ian in an indoor two mile. I think I ran 1030. He's gotten much faster. Congrats!
CONGRATULATIONS! !!!! D-THREEEEEEE POWERRRRRR!!
I know a guy that says he's run with Ian before. Apparently Ian just gradually upped the mileage and now he does a lot of mileage and aerobic work and it took awhile but now he's reaping the rewards.
Aerobic engine that is fairly unprecedented at many levels. He's never broke 2:00 in the 800. Charlie Spedding, Bill Rodgers type!
What year is LaMere? He's not listed on their 15-16 track roster. It appears he's missed a season with injury...
He took indoor off so he'd have a full year of eligibility. He now has an XC, indoor and outdoor season remaining.
He's the next Nick Symmonds!
So he has outdoor, XC, indoor, outdoor?
