I was just wondering what anyone else's thoughts were on changing direction during track practice in between reps so as not to be always turning left. I developed a stress fracture in high school on my hip pointer from constantly turning left, that and a lack of general core strength were to blame. Does anyone else regularly change direction? I am constantly recieving crap from teammates who feel it is stupid to run the opposite direction, their logic being, we don't turn right during races so why run that way? when in all reality wouldn't it make us stronger due to better development of the muscles constantly facing the infield when turning left? I mean i would suspect even elite athletes change direction in an effort to ward off possible over use injuries stemming from constant repetitive stresses from running left turns all the time.
