We have two runners:
A) an elite runner averaging 80-100 mpw
B) a high school boy averaging 20-30 mpw
Both are running a 10x400m workout with 60 sec standing rest aiming for the best possible average time.
Which one of them will be more likely to hold this pace over a 1500m / mile race ?
- Runner A because the hs boy has not the endurance to run this pace without rest in between
OR
- Runner B because the elite will recover so quick in the 60s rest that it is not comparable to a race without rest
