How much will 5lbs affect my 5k time? I am a 5'4 female normally around 116lbs, now I am 121lbs. In a 5 month span, I am guessing I put on 3lb of muslce, mostly in the glutes and quads, and probably 2lbs was fat. I was injured all indoor and crosstrained 2 hours a day in the pool/bike/elliptical while running about 20-25 miles a week.The first time I gained 5lbs, I ran a minute faster for a 5k. I am just now getting back into workouts and am running them fairly well, but I am really scared I will run slower for 3 continous miles. My 5k PR is 16:58
