I am a high school junior is considering going out for the track team. What event should I try out for based on my body type? No track experience.

You have already found your ideal event, being a troll.
continued virginity
This might be a troll, but I'll bite anyways.
Narrow shoulders, so definitely NOT shotput/jav/discus/sprints
Maybe pole vault if frame is light enough and springy enough.
Not thin enough for distance.
Some potential with hurdles and steeple.
Do a 300 and 600 m time trial and get the results back to us ASAP.
Expert, what are you evaluating with a 300/600 time trial? Just curious as have not used them as an evaluation tool before.
The pace achieved in early march in a 300 can be extrapolated to get a good idea of what pace an athlete can hit in a 400 race by May. Same deal for the 600 but applies to the 800.
Also, it allows an athlete to discover whether they are better suited for sprints or for mid-d and distance.
OP have you done the time trial yet?

Steeple is distance dumb punk.
I did the time trial.
300m- 1minute 5 secs
600m- 2minutes 21 secs
Ask to be a team manager/helper. Try multiple events. If there is anyone who likes you, go with that event. Keep that sense of humor.
Your 300 indicates potential for a pace of 1:26.666667 in the 400. This would put you in approximately the 12.2 percentile within a sample field, Texas middle school girls.
Your 600 indicates potential for a time of 3:08 in the 800. This would put you in the 34 percentile for Texas middle school girls.
Overall, your 600 is much more competitive than your 300. With smart training, you will progress greatly in the 800 and possibly the 1600 if you get more endurance under your belt. I would focus on the 800, occasionally racing the 2k steeplechase and 400 meter hurdles. Good luck in your season!
You look like a field athlete to me. Consider the shot put.

The world would be a better place if people remained virgins until married.
So you get a 300 and 600. What formula are you using from there?
You look like a javelin thrower. How far can you throw a baseball?
Do you lift? Do you play sports of any kind?
Do the following:
What's your bench 5 rep max?
What's your squat 5 rep max (or do a leg press if you don't ever squat)?
100m sprint?

For the average new runner, a 300 all-out is a good approximation for the pace an athlete can hit in the 400 by the season's end. For example, a 300 done in :45 would indicate potential to extend that 100 m to achieve a 400 in a minute flat by the end of the season. A 600 all-out approximates an 800 race in the same way. Doing the full length 400 or 800 would be inappropriate because newer athletes will improve a lot throughout the season and the distance would require too much recovery, interrupting training.
