There is no debate Trayvon Bromell had another clutch performance with a PR in the final.
The only debate is whether Asafa Powell choked.
Most of LRC says he did. If Powell ran the time he ran in the prelims or the semis, he would have won gold easily.
He still picked up the silver, but what do you think?
Chock or no choke for Powell?
Powell is the consummate choker, so much so, that in many sprinter circles, there's already an adage known as "pulling an Asafa". It's been around since 2007 at least.

No. He often runs faster in preliminary rounds. If he choked he would'nt have medalled.

He ran too fast the first two prelims. If he had throttled back he would have had a better chance, but I think he does choke a bit. Most don't understand sprinting is subtle. CNS can only handle so much. Three quality races in one day is a lot. Seems weird for a race so short, difficult for distance runners to appreciate. Sprinting and distance running really are worlds apart, totally different forms of running.
Asafa GOAT, has made it into an art form.
Anyway, it's an event that, lest we forget, Richard Kilty won last year. That tells you all about how important this race is...

Mr. Ato Boldon said that there is a certain part of the race where you (a sprinter) have to fight. Asafa doesn't fight.
Asafa has never crossed that particular threshold and that is the reason as to why each time after a 100m (or 60m dash) race, he usually sits down with a 'what has just happened' face while at the same time staring at the winner holding his flag.
It has happened in every race that he's been involved in.
I watched this race with my brother and couldn't help laughign at Asafa.
Does he underperform in the finals of championships? Yes, obviously. He has the most top marks of any sprinter in history by far. Possibly none of them has been run in a final (maybe one 9.84 in 2009?).
But he handled his defeat well. He said when prompted that the one thing that could have helped was to have the final tomorrow. In other words, two 6.44s took a bit out of his legs. Hard to go easy in a race settled by so little, but still how many have run three sub 6.50 races in such a short time frame?
This shows how difficult it is to perform your best when it is most important. That is a virtue that Ajee' Wilson, Brittney Reese, Matthew Centrowitz, and certainly Trayvon Bromell have shown.
Usain and Gatlin have reason to be seriously concerned about both Bromell and Degrasse. The Future has arrived.
