When it came out a month ago that former Michigan State runner Rachel McFarlane had made a mistake and not realized she had to run her Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier at a sanctioned USATF race, USATF had no sympathy.
Now, when a sanction somehow wasn't secured for the 2016 NYRR Millrose Games, it won't impact anyone.
Millrose is part of the USATF Championship Series if that counts.

Not only that, but the Armory's hurdles are too narrow to conform. They were built for 42-inch lanes, but their sprint lanes are 48 inches wide, leaving a huge gap of about 7 inches between the horizontal top slats rather than the prescribed 2 to 4 cm.

The lanes are 48 inches? That is huge. I haven't noticed the lanes are that big.
I simply cannot believe it may be because Millrose athletes like Robby Andrews have shoe contracts with important sponsors, and Rachel McFarlane had no such connection to bigtime athletics/T&F money or Nike. Simply do not want to believe such a thing could happen in our good ole' USA. No way. USATF would never do such a thing.
This has nothing to do with USATF. It's the Armory. They think they invented the sport.

I thought rojo was tilting at windmills when he offered to pay for the sanction few for the non-sanctioned marathon, but now he comes off looking really smart.

This is slightly incorrect - USATF would have worked with the Detroit race to make the race time eligible, but the race was unwilling to take the necessary steps to rectify the situation. In this case, Millrose is taking the necessary steps to rectify the situation.

USATF is presiding, nay, orchestrating, the death of the sport of T&F. They contort their own rules to get what they want, and prevent what they don't want. All credit for destroying the sport to Stephanie and Max, with Jill as the loyal spokesmouth.
Yup look at photos of any hurdle event at that facility. They are not legal, guess they didn't want to spend the extra money.
And the truth shall set you free! They think they are above the rules, one day they will get burnt but until that day comes they won't change.

centimeters aren't SI units.
1 inch = 2.54cm.
Please note the USATF rule book:
"The top bar shall be of a length equal to the width of the lane in which it is placed."
Again, the rules don't apply to certain people
