I'm looking for a neutral shoe with a soft heel counter. Anything too stuff aggravates my Achilles insertion. Any suggestions?

nike lunartempo.
Skechers GoRun
Hoka, Puma Faas, New Balance 630
Nike Flyknit is the best upper/heel counter ever, for your type of issue. Like a knitted sock.
Hoka Huaka, Skechers GoRun Ride
Adidas ultra boost ST. They are a little expensive but totally worth it to me as my Achilles has been pain free since I started wearing them.
Those Adidas are pricey.
Nike LunarTempo (or Lunaracer) is correct. Also, the New Balance Vazee Pace. Don't know why anyone is pushing Hoka Huaka or Sketcher anything. Geez. You didn't ask for the shoe least likely to be around in two years.

Good point. I can't even seem to find consistent information on the Sketcher running shoes models. Their names are very similar, and I continue to find conflicting information for what appears to be the same models. On one site I find a certain Sketcher running shoe has a 4mm drop, then else where that same shoe has a 9mm drop.
Vazee Pace has a soft heel? I haven't tried it. I was too butt hurt after NB dropped the 890's from their line up.
Had achilles surgery a year ago. Lunartempo has worked well for me; and I think the first iteration is on closeout.
Puma Faas 100 is soft. Faas 300 TR is soft (allround shoe for road/gravel/easy trails). Faas 300 is not really very soft.
Asics 33-DFA is also very soft w/o heel counter. Dunno about the other 33 models.
Neither the DFA or FA have heel counters, so they won't put pressure on the achilles insertion. Unfortunately, they are fairly flat feeling. Feel more like a cross trainer than a running shoe.
I've never seen Puma running shoes in any of my local running stores.
Shoes "being around" two years is a criteria? You mean lasting two years, or the model being static two years, or the company being around in two years? If it works, use it. Pretty simple, really.

Correction: soft heel counters
Which model do you use? Their website is terrible.
I wear Skechers wrote:

New Balance Zante is another option. I also have issues with my achilles necessitating a soft heel counter and they seem to work for me.
I wear the GoRun and GoRunRide models, and sometimes the GoMebSpeed.
The GoRun and GoRunRide models I wear tend to be the first and second edition shoes, not so much what they make now. I go to the Skechers store and buy the shoes, so I don't worry about the mess that is their Web site. Looking at it now, though, I don't think it's any more a disaster than Nike's site. I mean, I'm wearing the Lunar Montreal right now. Where the heck is that shoe?
