Good for them. No, it probably will not do either of those things. I can tell you that just from reading Miami's own recap- there were 0 mentions of distance runners' performances at the meet, which means there were none worth reporting. Competitive xc programs don't just spring up out of nowhere, there has to be something there to build on.

I meaan all it takes is one good class. I know it won't take one good class to go from not much to top 15 in the nation. But they can change the culture and get better recruits!

Why do they need to? If they just won ACC without distance what is the point of taking away from investing the events they are already do well in? Some programs would rather be competitive 2/3rds of the year instead of investing heavily to do good in 1/3rd. Track and Field success is something completely different than cross success.
