In 2004 Haile Gebrselassie probably ran his last track 5000m if he sticks to his plans of concentrating primarily on the Marathon starting 2005. Track and Field end of the year rankings for the 5000m seems to have showed favoritism for just that reason, Haile was tied with Emil Zatopek for the overall lead in the 5000m and his 10th place ranking gave him the clear leadership in that event.
I'm sure Augustine Choge if he stays in the sport and healthy will earn his share of points in the 5000m but who do you think deserved the 5000m 10th spot ranking in 2004? Below are the two complete 5000m season:
Augustine Choge (1987)
13:15.56...............8)Zurich GP....Jun 28
13:28.93...............1)Jr Worlds....Jul 18
13:09.18...............7)Stockholm GP.Jul 27
12:57.01...............1)Berlin GP....Sep 12
13:09.00...............3)Monaco GP....Sep 19
Haile Gebrselassie (04/18/1973)
12:55.51...............1)London GP....Jul 30
do you feel Haile with his one undefeated race deserve to be ranked before Augustine complete 5000m season?
