Was Augustine Choge slighted in favor of Haile Gebrselassie?

Yes its clearly evident that Augustine deserved to be ranked in Haile's place by venture of the number of grand prix races and decent showings and a equally good win. I think Augustine got robbed.

Don't think so- 12:55 is clearly better than 12:57 and besides, WJCH aren't the same as senior races. His win came after Oly, when very few athletes were prolonging their season.

If Choge was slighted for Geb, I think that it's one of those injustices that can be endured. Geb's more than earned his keep.

All you do is copy and paste a bunch of race results and pass yourself off as some wondrous track analyst.

There is no such thing as earn your keep just because of your accomplishments prior to the year in question rankings. One race doesn't compare to four races of which most is on the Grand Prix circuit and the World Jr race and Haile one wins wasn't any better than Augustine's Berlin victory. It seems if a NON-WHITE individual (primarily Vipam who most of us now know is African) start posting anything SOME poster immediately take offense to his post.

The reason so many good posters frequent this board less is the amount of stupid replys and studpid posters you have to schuffle thru and deal with daily is persuading them just not to post. I agree that Augustine should have been ranked and he isn't the only one that a case could be made for in 2004.

Who cares about "rankings" in track and field besides the people who make them? I've always felt they were the stupidest thing out there. In a sport with a million variables like football I can understand them. But in track and field, we already have a pretty clear indicator of who is faster. It's called the clock.

Of course you can have cases where guys run well in time-trials and crumble under pressure (e.g. Fernando Mamede) but I think it's safe to say that both of these guys have shown themselves to perform well when it counts

Regardless, I doubt either of these two care where TnF ranks them.
